BSG's Colonial fleet vs ST Starfleet

Colonial Fleet has plenty of nukes and jump drives which could evade incoming fire. That being said ...

Starfleet in a heartbeat. Shields, vastly superior firepower, maneuverability and a HELL of a lot more capital ships. I'm not sure short of a kamikaze run from a battlestar whether the Colonial Fleet could take out a single Starfleet capital ship.

Absolute bloodbath. Phasers tearing through battlestars like a hot knife thru butter.

But what if Kirk is leading the Federation fleet?
It would be an interesting conflict. One talked a robot to death, the other beat one to death with a flashlight. Adama is probably a better tactician and most of his plans aren't what the average Starfleet captain would guess. Adama had jumped his own ship into the atmosphere of a planet to launch Vipers while drawing away the Cylon ships with a decoy. He also jumped the Galactica into the Cylon colony. He'd probably jump a Raider armed with a nuke inside the Enterprise.

The Colonial fleet - the shaky cam would make the Starfleet crews throw up and debilitate them.

That makes no sense. Starfleet crews get tossed around even more than their own ships in a battle. Sometimes they just fall from one end of the room to the other for no apparent reason. Clearly they must have stomachs of iron just to function.

Given they're supposed to have inertial dampening, it must be designed to fail at critical dramatic moments.

The same with computer displays who must have been built out of autoexploding material and has killed more crewmen than all enemies together.

So it's either SF cutting BSG ships into thin Sushi slices with phasers or BSG ships playing pinball with Federation ships and using the Display of Doom (tm) technology to kill the crew.

People seem to be forgetting one thing: There are two BSGs.

So which Colonial Fleet before which fall? Because the 1978 version of battlestars are armed with directed energy weapons, fighters with their own DEWs and are made with armor capable of withstanding significant amounts of DEW fire, so if we're talking about the five battlestars we see in the beginning of "Saga of a Star World," fully alert and ready for battle, it's not an automatic slam dunk that TNG-era Starfleet beats them.

If it's nuBSG, then yeah, Starfleet kicks its ass, Adama or no Adama.

Indeed. Starfleet has been training to fight shaky cam attacks for centuries. They even set it to a musical montage instructional video for Academy cadets:

Starfleet.

A brand new ship from the Colonial fleet would get stomped on just by a Starfleet ship phasers.

Nukes would be ineffective since Starfleet has shields. I bet it wouldn't even drop shields down to 98%

In TOS - "Balance of Terror" the 1701 easily survives what is in effect a nuclear mine detonated 50 meters from it's Hull. Only took some minor damage.

Starfleet, because of the starships weapons, even though the Battlestars are much larger than Starships.

Larger size can also mean greater durability. I stick to what I said about '78 battlestars. It ain't a slam dunk for Starfleet.
