Agreed. I think that if its compelling he, as an actor, would find that to be enjoyable. Possibly a distinction without a difference.In the past he's been publicly dismissive of bringing back Picard, so I think there must have been something in the story pitch which captivated him. I could be wrong of course. But again, Stewart doesn't need money, so I don't think the big check would bring him into a project he didn't find compelling from a character standpoint.
Also, Nimoy was reluctant to continue as Spock and yet he did so.

) Which is why he wanted to do "Star Trek" in the first place. But when they actually did that in the movies, it was a noticeably enough change from his television character it put a lot of people off.
