Trek guest actors in maybe surprising roles

He said it, too! (Though not in that scene.) The series tries to mix it up, but there are only so many clock positions.

I should add that he shot down Jon Voight.

Every time I look at this thread title lately, I find myself wondering -- how many of these guest roles in over 2200 posts have really been "surprising"? I mean, the fact that working actors in the 1960s appeared in a lot of different shows in quick succession is kind of the opposite of surprising, since it's what actors do when they don't have series regular gigs. So what does constitute a surprising role?

Except it was never just surprising, it was always "maybe surprising."

All the guest actor roles that have been discussed here have been "maybe surprising." :)

So... success! :techman:

Vince Howard as a medic in The Time Tunnel's Kill Two By Two also featuring Whit Bissell and Lee Meriwether who were regulars in the series!

Comet TV is airing 'Baffled' staring Leonard Nimoy. It's one of those made-for-tv movies that I've read about, but never seen until now.
It's obviously a pilot for a proposed series, filmed in England, with a couple of other familiar faces and was probably one of the first things Nimoy did after leaving Mission: Impossible.
What's surprising is how engaged Nimoy appears to be in the material. It looks like he's having fun shedding his Mr. Spock and Paris persona.

So what is it with Star Trek actors and insects? There's William Shatner in 'Kingdom of the Spiders', Paul Winfield gets eaten by cockroaches in 'Damnation Alley', Robert Lansing and Joan Collins face off in 'Empire of the Ants', and now Robert Lansing is facing off against mutant cockroaches in a movie called 'The Nest' on Comet TV.

His head is turned slightly to his left, which is about 11:30 not 12. And I was being silly. I didn't address high or low.

And Leonard Nimoy had a small part in Them!, the giant ant movie. On the other hand, the giant-locust film Beginning of the End starred Peter Graves, so maybe it's Mission: Impossible actors too.

Saw a 50th Anniversary screening of 2001:A Space Odyssey last week.
Gotta mention Gary Lockwood.
Is he filming some Star Trek venture at the moment according to IMDB?

And DeForest Kelly and Paul Fix battled giant rabbits in Night of the Lepus, but that is obviously another story...

Sam Gilman, Roy Jenson, William O'Connell, Chuck Hicks, Judson Scott apparently, in Any Which Way But Loose (1978)
