Colony Season 3 Discussion

I'm trying to think if there is anything I still watch on USA (aside from Colony) that isn't NCIS reruns.

Wow...that stinks...just when they are getting to the good part!!!!

Any luck for SyFy to do a wrap up movie???

Cancelled!?! Well that sucks ass..... I really like this show. Another program with no end game .... I hate that.

Well, that sucks. The show was a guilty pleasure. Not great. They dragged things out too much. Season 1 had looked like they were moving the story forward near the end, but season 2 really went no further. All I remember from S2 was some great gun battles that really impressed me. Season 3 a definite improvement over S2. They handled some really tough things and moved the story forward significant. S3 should've been the second season.

I hope we get a wrap-up at least. There oughta be a law, right?

^ Yea, there oughta be a law. Tonight will end on a crappy cliffhanger and we'll never know how this pans out. AND I'm certainly not going to go out and buy a bunch of comics or some cheap book to get the conclusion. This 'cancel on a cliffhanger' crap frosts my ass.

Well, that was the cliffhanger, and a decent one; I actually want to see what happens to them, what happens with the alien attack, and what sleazy, slimeball move Synder pulls to get out alive. Finally, the show hits its stride....and it's over.

Phooey.

My feelings too.

We finally see the enemy and then....?!?!??!?!

So was Kines working with the enemy? Didn't he help with that test against the Outlier soldier test subjects?

Wish we could read a coda or something...

It is such a pet peeve of mine when shows end on cliffhangers. Worse when they last multiple seasons. USA should have given them a chance to wrap it up.

I agree 100%

As for the last episode, the last 2 really, they were pretty good and I was thinking about how this was going to play out. The producers and writers did a good job pulling me back into the story. Damn shame we’ll probably never know how it was supposed to end.

Yeah, when a show ends on a cliffhanger, you have to go with what you saw. V ended with the aliens officially taking control over all of humanity. The bad guys won.

Alcatraz ended with the main character flatlining on a table after being shot. She's dead. Buh bye.

So in Colony, Sawyer is now in a pod, and that's it. Bye Sawyer.

As off topic as this is, it would make an interesting poll--

What is worse--

1. A show that you care about, ending on a cliffhanger, where you have to presume the worst?

2. A show that you care about, wrapping up, where the writers end the show in a way that they almost want to upset the fans (or are too dumb to realize their idea would be so poorly received)? Examples, Quantum Leap or How I Met Your Mother or The Sopranos...

This is a shame. This season really picked it up and had some much needed forward momentum. Maybe if they'd have done this in season 2 instead of 3, we'd have seen a proper ending.

Good question..I would choose 2 as the worst.

Could SyFy theoretically get Colony and then run a Marathon and end it with a new movie which wraps up everything in a way (like Farscape???)

I saw an interview with one of the creators and he mentioned that they had planned on 2 more seasons to wrap up the story.

So not even a finishing movie would suffice. Or at the very least it certainly wouldn't be the story they originally intended to tell.

That's the remake, innit? The original ended with the Leader taking Elizabeth back to the Visitor homeworld, Kyle stowing away, and Diana revealing she planted a bomb on the shuttle.

(There was an episode that was written, but never filmed, which would have continued the storyline from that point. Let's just say the bomb doesn't go off.)

While I do (did?) enjoy the show, I'm not surprised it's been cancelled. Honestly, I'm surprised it made it to three seasons. Generally speaking if a show can't find it's stride by at least season 2, then it's objectively not that good of a show.

It's sad to say, but for me at least it's one of those shows that I like while it's on, the immediately forget it exists until it comes back the following year. (see also: Killjoys & Dark Matter.) And no, I honestly don't miss 'Dark Matter'. Not in a "fuck that show" kind of way, but in a "I legitimately didn't think about that show since it ended until I randomly ran across someone mentioning it the other day" kind of way.

Random comment..but did Colony break the TV trope of eternally useful gasoline and mentioned how it expires after about a year
