"Vampires can drive?"
"They can fly."
The quote is actually a bit different:
"I looked around, but as soon as they got clear of the graveyard, they could have just— [makes sweeping hand gesture] voom!"
"They can fly?"
"They can drive."
"Vampires can drive?"
"They can fly."
Yes I know. That's the joke.
I don't have a particular problem with them rebooting the show, although on a personal level I would like them to do a continuation focussed on different characters, so they can bring some elements of the old show in, so that we might find out what happened to Buffy, Willow etc.
What's changed now is that Joss has found someone - Ms. Owusu-Breen - with whom he's willing to cooperate and to whom he's willing to "hand the baton".
FTFYWhat's changed now is that Joss is watching his career evaporate before his eyes. This is his last chance if the HBO thing doesn't work out.
A continuation already exists in comic form, and has for a decade.
It's also coming to an end.
Also, there's been a desire within the industry from executives to reboot Buffy for years, but the hurdle was that Joss wasn't interested in being involved, which was the death knell since he holds 100% creative control over the property.
What's changed now is that Joss has found someone - Ms. Owusu-Breen - with whom he's willing to cooperate and to whom he's willing to "hand the baton".
I'm aware of them, but that doesn't matter to the majority of the viewing public though, who don't read comics. I don't, and if it didn't happen in the TV show then it didn't happen AFAIAC.
I'm sure established non TV canon would be thrown out of the window in a heartbeat in that scenario anyway.
That's not how it works.
It's exactly how it works. You're wrong.
It was crap.I wonder if their has ever been any attempt to bring back a version of this franchise with a Kristy Swanson version of Buffy? The movie was from what I recall a cult hit at the time so someone must have liked it enough to want to make a show about it beyond just Joss Whedon.

Orphan Black was produced by a Canadian company, along with BBC America and the Candadian network Space. It was more of a Candadian show than an American show.I think "Orphan Black" was set in Canada.
. Technically the show appears to be set in formerly Chinese territory, but the island was bought and now controlled by an American company, so it was more American than Chinese."Westworld" is set somewhere I am not sure but it's not America unless my idea is true about all the park's being located in what once was America
It was based on Ancient Greek mythology, so those aren't really stories you can tell in modern day American.Hercules and Xena back in the day were set in Greese and filmed in Austrilia.
Yes, but the hero was American, most of the cultural references were American, and when they went to Earth they were in the US. It was filmed in Australia."Farscape" was filmed in Australia or New Zealand. I forget, which it was.
That would probably depend on what they did with the show. If it was focused on new group of characters, they could leave the comics intact. Any big world changing events could always be referred to as being due to the actions of Buffy & Co. offscreen, or even adapted from the comics as an opportunity for appearances from the original cast.I'm aware of them, but that doesn't matter to the majority of the viewing public though, who don't read comics. I don't, and if it didn't happen in the TV show then it didn't happen AFAIAC.
I'm sure established non TV canon would be thrown out of the window in a heartbeat in that scenario anyway. Although it doesn't look like it's going to happen in any case.
