That is a great trailer!! Season looks to be really kicking it up a notch. It feels like the producers are more confident about themselves and the show now. Now that the show got a second season, the producers can really go all out and don't need to be afraid anymore.
I saw it but had it turned down. Alara is there so the will she or Won't she question seems to be answered, at least in the trailer.
There's no way of knowing how many episodes Alara appears in for sure, but it definitely could only be a couple. Also we get a rear shot of someone with a side ponytail that I think is the character who is replacing her.
Ok having seen it appropriately, that was a great trailer. I'm loving these trailers to my favorite shows. It's making me warm and fuzzy inside.
Looks like more fun than the first season and hopefully they worked out the kinks I had issues with in the first season. Also, it seems like the show might follow The Next Generation gag of a rotating navigator now that LaMarr is the chief engineer (although I did see one shot where he was navigator). I haven't been following any off-season news for the show. Is something happening to Alara? I hope she's not leaving because she's easily my favorite character on the show.
Wasn't there an episode after LaMarr was promoted to engineering where there was a different navigator every time they had a bridge scene?
There’s been a lot of talk about if Halston Sage is returning. I’ve been pretty confused by the whole thing myself.
There's a fair bit of circumstancial evidence the actress is leaving the show, but the showrunners have been absolutely quiet on the subject.
She's working on another show so they're cutting her character back in order to keep her options open on The Orville. I'm sure Alara's eventual fate depend on how the other gig plays out.
Not sure how the show does it, but even the trailer put a big grin on my face. Can't wait for the show to return.
That looks great. I can't wait for the new season to start. I just wish we were getting more episodes.
That was great, I was really excited for the show to come back anyway but it’s good to know the actual date and to see something tangible. I wonder how much of that footage is from the hold over episode from last season? They definitely padded a little bit with effects from the first season in a few places. On the Halston Sage thing, it’s noticable in a few shots that she’s missing, like the shot of the crew doing hero poses on the shuttle deck and in some of the bridge shots you can see that new crew member is sitting in her seat. Sure she could have been promoted somewhere else like LaMarr but judging from what we see in the trailer I think there might be some sort of Amok Time episode coming where she goes back to her home planet. It looks like Ed has a run in with Alara’s father in one shot too, that space suit he’s wearing (that looks like Gypsy Danger) maybe negates some of the gravity of Xelaya.
I start to think that the new character is either Alaras Daughter (maybe she stumbled through a time portal, or she got accellerated growth treatment), or she IS Alara after some kind of... well, I don't know. Maybe it's Alara in her final form as an adult or something.
So, Kelly and Bortus have the same birthday? Looks amusing. That's not so clear cut, actually. Yes, Alara is clearly there, but there are also several shots of the new Xeleyan security officer as well. Take particular note, the banquet near the start where Ed is making his toast, we can clearly see the new Xeleyan right next to him, and Alara is not there at all.
Pretty sure the character has a different name. I imagine it is just another of the same species, perhaps assigned to the Orville because they have already had experience working with Xeleyans.
Yeah, I know, I remember reading a name tag. But that could have been a deliberately placed misinformation to throw people off. After all, the production crew knows that fans are speculating and yet, Cast and Crew keep making a secret out of whatever is going on. I assume it's for story reasons, so there has to be a bit more than "it's just another Xelayan.". *shrugs*
