Hey look, it's Alara

Especially when the artificial gravity failsStill very stupid. Skirts are a horrid idea for a space ship
I have to say I like the new uniforms less than I thought I would. They're obviously improvement over the horrid Discovery uniforms, nut somehow still a bit meh. Beyond uniforms did the same thing better. I don't think the black collar really works with this design, and the colours just seem off. That bright yellow in particular looks garish. It is also awkward that the science blue is almost the same colour than Discovery uniform blue. They should have at least used TOS's pale blue to make them more different. And of course now we have two different and completely incompatible ways to indicate rank; that is just plain crazy.
The US Navy already does so. This is keeping with tradition, actually:And of course now we have two different and completely incompatible ways to indicate rank; that is just plain crazy.
But those are both a star and four bars, they're the same. Now we have a situation where in one system Lieutenant Commander has two bright pips and one black pip, where in another they have one wide and one narrow bar. If even the bright pips would correspond to wide bars and the black pips to the narrow bars, so that Lt. Cmdr. would have one bright and one black pip, but no! Pure madness, I tell you! (Even if they'd keep the ugly Disco uniforms, I really hope that they at least adopt the Enterprise rank system soon. The badge pips are barely visible.)The US Navy already does so. Whaat? That can't be right?IIRC, I believe on the above, one is a captain, the other an admiral.
What you are missing is the Eagle insignia, which is used as a collar device and does not connect to the stripe system at all.But those are both a star and four bars, they're the same. No, that is all for a captain, with collar insignia, shoulder board and sleeve braiding.IIRC, I believe on the above, one is a captain, the other an admiral.
the redshirt has a skirt, but is also wearing pants (or a leggings?)
I think she’s a near human looking alien.I'm trying to figure out why she's wearing what looks like dual ear-mounted mics in every single shot. Some sort of implants?
Pike's yellow is a good uniform. The other "Constitution" uniforms don't work. Something is really wrong with the science blue, can't put my finger on it. And the Redshirt seems off too. Can't quiet put my finger on it.
She moonlights as a singer in the ship's band. She apparently also has a name (Nahn) judging by the captions.
Which doesn't mean much in this series, considering the bridge crew which had names but were essentially extras. But she might have some story role.
