Season 2 Teaser

That shouldn't make a bit of difference. They are still two different individuals. Privacy is privacy.

Maybe it was felt that on a starship in a crisis situation, they needed to get some clue as to what was going on, and the most respectful thing to do was to ask Michael to access the log, given her relationship. In that context, it's not too far-fetched.

Gotta hope it is something mission critical. But, if that's the case, it seems like they would've already done it before the Discovery showed up.

Well, there's walking the fine line between "respecting privacy" (waiting for Burnham) and having something be critical enough to invade privacy. Maybe this was viewed as an appropriate middle ground?

The ones in the second trailer are different, yes. These are for space ops. The new ones seem geared for planetside or intra-ship ops.

I do like this version on the picture there. Sure is less clunky than the TWOK ones, without seeming out of place around that era.
Yeah the one in the pilot is probably meant to be like Spock's in TMP

The shuttle pilot in Episode 3 was wearing a outfit based on this concept art.

The EV suits in the trailer seem to have evolved from this same design.

They sent a general distress, they had no idea that Michael Burnham would show up.

Of course. It's all speculation, but maybe they were purposefully avoiding Spock's quarters, but once they realized Burnham was in play, they made the request.

Or, maybe Burnham has an insight from earlier in Spock's life that ties to the mystery, and she says..."woah...maybe I should check the logs to see if he says anything about XYZ"

Who knows? Maybe she's just a jerk and barges in to find if he's been watching porn in his browser history.

She proably did what everyone does on Trek when going into someone's quarters without asking. Give a security code and the doors open wide up.

There certainly is prescedent set that breaking into someone's quarters is ok. Haha

Besides, in the enlightened future, privacy is an outdated concept along with mourning the dead, money, a military, and football offenses that use fullbacks.

there are no "fullbacks" in football. there are forwards and offensive midfielder. I'm guessing you talk about some regional rugby variant instead

We don't know the full context of Burnham's entrance into Spock's quarters. Maybe Sarek telepathically senses Spock is in danger, prompting Pike to allow Burnham access? Maybe he's just that concerned for his officer, having not seen Spock so fixated on something before?

  • Anson Mount as Pike... He looks like Jeffrey Hunter (moreso than Bruce Greenwood). But like in "Inhumans", this guy has the charisma of a loaf of bread. A stark contrast to screen talen Jason Isaacs. But hey, at least we have a white, male lead again to appease the Internet...
:)!

Anson Mount didn't even deliver any dialogue in Inhumans, just sign language and facial expressions. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt here.

He was a badass series lead on AMC's Hell on Wheels, and I think this is the first time Trek has brought in a new regular character who has been the Series Lead of his own long-running series before.

He'll be the scene stealer this season, and hopefully stick around longer than Isaacs.
