Why would he not when all you have to do is push a button and vola,! New uniform.
Specifically... the bit with Detmer and Owosekun goggling at each other (reminding me of STV, humor at the expense of the crew's professionalism), and especially the goopy sneeze (the sort of things that's funny only to 11-year-olds).
Okay, I did like Tig Notaro's "what a relief" line. She seems to have a little of McCoy in here there.
Every point? You actually disliked the stuff I thought was good about it?
I think it made him distinctive against all the blue. It just looked better, but that's just my $ .02 worth.
They also lost a person who was known for doing dark stuff.
They really improved the lighting on the ships. They no longer have that neon, blurry, over-saturated look to them. The Enterprise even looks white in a couple of those shots.
Like the more light-hearted tone here. Mount looks good as Pike.
That last bit felt really out of place though. Like something you'd see in an Adam Sandler movie, where the 'joke' is 'haha, he got snot on his face!'. Hope the writing's a bit smarter than that.

Maybe because it has a trump card (the spore drive) just in case.
Those things are spread across 30,000 light years. Pike is commandeering Discovery for it's Spore Drive since Enterprise cannot travel that far.
Further thoughts...
We didn't see much of the Enterprise here, especially the interior, but given today's announcement from SDCC that Rebecca Romijn will be playing Number One, I think it's reasonable to except that we will. Which is good by me.
I just can't get into the spinny one-person mini-ships dodging the asteroid field. It feels too much like a video game, the sort of thing that gets plugged into a summer blockbuster movie when the formula says "we need an action scene here." (The kind of thing that ruined the Hobbit trilogy, for instance.) Trek has never relied on that sort of over-the-top action, and it shouldn't need to.

While Pike is commanding Discovery, who's commanding the Enterprise? I assume it's Number One. Does that mean she will now be listed as one of the previous captains of the Enterprise?
If they paid the money to build a bridge set, I imagine it will be part of the story in a major way.

Plus, we all know how good these Connies are at not ending up dead, except for the Enterprise.
I thought Cornwell took the Spore Drive away from them?
