Fans have debated what was happening in the recently leaked clip. Several wondered if the showcased artifact was rather a tool for searching for a "lost" TARDIS. They figured it couldn't be the screwdriver as the TARDIS has been depicted creating a new version for the last two incarnations. Well, at least we now know that object is, indeed the new screwdriver. And circumstantial evidence suggests that the Doctor herself constructs this latest version given her goggles, apron, the welding torch and the rough, mottled look of the device's casing.

The first article is a great read and the things both Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall say give me a lot of hope. I particularly liked what both of them said about gender issues and how to give children of all ages and genders great role models.

We don't know when the new season will begin but the rumor for awhile now has been sometime in October.

Oh, it'll almost certainly be October, the majority of Whitaker tie-in merchandise including the first novel for Whitaker's Doctor have October release dates.

Nope, that's a myth that refuses to die. What might be true is someone at BBC dictating for Daleks to appear each season.

Love this new sonic. The battered organic look suggests its origins as a cobbled-together device that this Doctor may add functions to as she goes along - fun thought really, as we’ve never really seen the actual construction of one of these things.

Or it’s a Cyberman finger the Doctor’s taken a hammer to.

Jodie is already a treasure. The new trailer looked great, I can't wait to see more. I'm glad to see the Doctor seem happy again, maybe her run will be a bit more upbeat than recent ones.

I want the new sonic screwdriver. It looks like something she grew out of a piece of the Tardis instead of a manufactured device.

Yeah, I don’t know. I don’t want to be all negative, but I can’t see the Doctor working with a Kirklees accent. That’s not even South Yorkshire!

I know some aren’t bothered if she talks Skelmers or Heckmondwyke, but to me it’s an another opportunity for a proper interesting Doctor wasted. Chibnel must go!

I was hoping they would go back to a more simple design for the sonic as i felt it has become too elaborate, but i suppose when their is merchandise to sell that is the way they go. lol
