HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abrams

One detail I haven't seen a little discussion over is as soon as Azacetcha crossed over. After he crossed, his wife appeared and they embraced.

Did she materialize from his memory of her, or did Ford secretly pre-upload the decommissioned hosts?

The show's racking up the Emmy nominations...

Yep. Game of Thrones and Westworld lead the nominations. Yet the head of AT&T (who seems like a horrible boss and is now, due to a merger, responsible for HBO) says HBO (an actually profitable company) should expect a lot of hardship at it switches to a model more like Netflix (which expects to lose money for several more years).

Yeah they are going quantity over quality under this bozo. Sad.

That news item was actually about Emmy nominations for season four, but we won't know that until season seven.

WestWorld's problem in Season 2 isn't that it was "too confusing"; it's problem is that it tried to be too clever in the way it ended and consequently wasted its own narrative momentum.

Season 2 didn't have all that much narrative momentum to begin with, to be honest. All those twists upon twists didn't amount to much and only slowed things down. The season was better when it stripped things down to its bare essentials which is when it shined. The real issue for me this season was the storytelling, because quite frankly, the story wasn't as good as the first season and much of the potential set up by the first season seemed to have been wasted. We can argue all day about whether it was too confusing or not, but I really feel that the narrative wasn't up to par with the first season and that is a quality issue.

Season 2 is finally up for purchase on Amazon's video service. I'm going to finish up some of the other stuff I've been watching on Netflix and Amazon Prime shows before I start it.

I'd say that season two of Westworld is my second-favorite season of science fiction/fantasy television in the last six or seven years...at least. It was great.

So is there going to be a season 3? Presumably, it would take place outside of Westworld, apart from perhaps in the virtual reality version that was uploaded somewhere outside the control of Delos. No point in returning to the real one. Perhaps Westworld could also be an augmented reality - overlaid on the real world - as seen through the eyes of some of the protagonists. I assume Dolores has a Plan...

Westworld apparently isn't for casual fans. I watched it every week and still thought Season Two sucked. Not a casual viewer.

Season One was superb. Perhaps it should have ended there.
