Emmy Nominations: Discovery Picks Up Creative Arts Nominations

The Discovery team deserves nomination just for the Saru makeup.

GoT and Westworld are fantastic shows that shoud win a lot of Emmys, in both technical and non-technical categories.

I agree they should deserve kudo's for Saru but the thing I wonder. When you have one bad thing like the Klingon makeup how much does that take down your score so to speak in figuring out if something should get a nod? Do the other shows have any massive mistakes on the scale of the new Klingon look?

As noted in the article, TREK shows haven't been nominated for acting awards since Nimoy back in the sixties. And Trek has never been routinely nominated for directing or writing.

For better or for worse, we tend to get relegated to technical categories.

Reasonably so.

I think it was just the Best TV Drama nod.

It's nominated but I won't hold my breath for a win. Why? Because it's Star Trek. Doesn't matter if it's Discovery.

Used to be, though, that genre programming in general got no respect. Not so much these days.

The 70th Emmy nominations were announced this morning and Discovery picked up 2 nominations. As has been the case for all previous Star Trek series, except TOS and the last season of TNG, Discovery only picked up nominations in the technical categories.

The Makeup was for an episode?? "Will You Take My Hand?" I don't know is it specific for the Klingon makeup?? That episode had L'Rell who was better in the makeup/mask. It had Ash (Voq memories??), Saru of course... Sarek.
