Episode IX will be a monster hit.
And even if it's not, it'll only be cause for course correction, not implosion. The mouse dropped a good 4 billion for this franchise and have no intention of even so much as slowing down for anything short of the apocalypse.
Absolute worse case scenario: the movies get their budgets seriously reigned in to maximise return on their investment and guarantee they at least break even, keeping the IP alive while the serious money continues to be made off the back of the merch sales.

What a ridiculous and pragmatic view. Clearly Disney regards SW as a failure and should sell it to the fans who know better, not reduce budgets! ;)

I don't know what it is, but sometimes I just get overcome by these bouts of rationality and critical thinking. Not at all histrionic or fallacious like all right-thinking people should be!

Rationality and critical thinking? Bullshit artistry, I tell ya! ;)

I find it kind of silly to get upset about not liking a Star Wars movie when the entire world is turning to shit around us. I don't like the Transformers films, but I don't create an elaborate fantasy world where Michael Bay is going to get fired for reasons to be determined later and a cultlike belief in it. I just don't watch them and live my life.

If the worst thing to happen to your life was a fucking Star Wars movie, you must live a pretty blissful life.

I'll let Dr. Cox answer the original question for me:

I only read about the first paragraph of the article before I realized it was bullshit and moved on.
