Kathleen Kennedy Damaging Star Wars....?

When you have people basically giving up their careers, retreating from public life, developing mental health problems and considering suicide because of the way they are being treated by these insufferable little creatures? All because they didn't like a film?

Unacceptable. I was reading a social media blurb/article recently, and they were mentioning targeted harassment of a particular young actress, an Asian girl. Barely has her feet wet in the business, and she's being subjected to abusive shit like "you stupid bitch/whore!", "the WORST thing ever!!", "KILL URSELF!!", etc.....and all due to her role in a hokey space opera - ?! Almost unfathomable, and certainly shameful.
Collective fandom had better get itself in CHECK, lest we ALL end up having our entertainment dictated by racists, sexists, 'incels', misogynists, basement dwellers, hate mongers, bitter virgins, and their toxic ilk. Prejudice & intolerance have NO place in our 'geek culture'.
Hear that sound? That's Rod Serling & Leigh Brackett rolling in their graves, along with thousands of others.

Slow applause.

Clearly, the problem is with the production team members and how they handle criticism, not the critics themselves... /s
That is a redundant suggestion when you need to have watched something first to know if you like it or not :guffaw:
But, we don't need to watch something to have an opinion on it now...

Right before TLJ came out, someone on this board (I can’t remembet who and I don’t care enough to look back at the thread) read a synopsis that was riddled with negativity and watched a few shaky cam cell phone clips and decided he or she literally hated TLJ. Didn’t give it a chance. Didn’t bother to come up with their own opinion. Just based it on someone’s negativity. Decided they hated it. Decided they didn’t need to see it. I mean, how can one take that seriously?

Lucas and Kennedy are accused of making bad films and publicly torn to shreds in a very personal and sustained way, Roddenberry and Berman are accused (with plenty of evidence) of being sexual predators whilst making good TV shows. The barbs are about the people precisely because the issue is with the people and their behaviour, not with their creative output.

What has Rick Berman been accused of? I'm pretty familiar with Rodenberry's exploits, but I don't remember hearing anything about Berman.
If you don't like The Last Jedi, don't watch it. I don't like the prequels, but I don't harass the actors or crew. I don't harass the fans of the prequels either. I have a friend who likes them, mostly due to his mancrush on Obi-Wan. But he's one of my best friends and I try not to judge his terrible taste in movies too harshly, especially since I love the John Carter movie and know I don't have a leg to stand on either.
You shouldn't feel bad about liking John Carter, it's awesome. I honestly don't think I can recall anyone saying it's bad, at least not here. Pretty much every time it comes up here all I see is people talking about how much they liked it.

I picked up The Huntsman: Winter's War out of the $5 bin at Wal-Mart this morning, and while I have't watched it yet, just judging by the cast and the trailer, I'm thinking it would probably make the idiots who have a problem with Rey's heads explode. 3 of the movie's four leads appear to be totally badass, kick ass women. OK, I don't know yet just how badass and kick ass they are, but they're played by Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, and Jessica Chastain, so there's a pretty good chance they'll be at least some badassery and ass kicking on their parts. Either way, just the fact that 3 of it's 4 main characters are women would probably be enough to set them off.

I picked up The Huntsman: Winter's War out of the $5 bin at Wal-Mart this morning,

That film got a 17% critics rating and 46% audience score.

Whether that's because it pushes some sort of badass woman stereotype at the expense of story or not, there are very good reasons why it's in the bargain bin. The only thing that looked good about it in the trailers is the costume design, otherwise it looked like a cheap ripoff of Frozen and it will probably be in some future generation's version of MST3K.

The quality of the movie has absolutely nothing to do with what I was talking about.
It was just a joke....
I've been hoping to use this since I saw this scene on TV a couple days ago and now I can.

'Snow White and the Huntsman' was a disappointment and that has nothing to do with role quotas or diversity or the producer's gender or some conspiracy theory or fan hatred. It had some powerful actors/actresses in it. It just made a mess of the story. Sometimes bad entertainment is just bad entertainment.

I was actually talking about the second one, The Huntsman: Winter's War.
For anyone not familiar with it, here's the trailer:

I was reading through a discussion of The Force Awakens on another site from back in 2015, and this jumped out at me:

I picked up ST 09 in the bargain bin several times. The good reasons are "We're not getting more stock and need to sell them" not "this is a crap movie."

Also, taxes.

Berman has never been accused of being a "sexual predator", that's completely unfair.

This might be either
a) confusion with Maurice Hurley, and his (alleged) harassment of Gates McFadden in season one
b) reference to comments (in those recent Gross/Altman books) that Berman took a lot of interest in the size of actress breasts or something like that.

...seriously?

Also, it was Terry Farrell who claimed that ‘interest’ was expressed directly to the actors faces. Repeatedly. The books were quoting her complaints.

In much the same way a stomach flu is "widely considered" to be an effective weight loss and dieting strategy.
