In honor of the upcoming holiday for us here in the States, this week's contest is devoted to American heroes in scifi/fantasy movies, TV and comics. They only have to be the hero/heroine of the feature and be "relatively good" and the character should be American (I don't care where the actor is from). So Doctor Strange, yes but Luke Skywalker, no. Some examples: Ichabod Crane, Captain Kirk, Buck Rodgers, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Winchesters, Reese and Finch, Dana Scully & Fox Mulder, Marty McFly, Sarah Connor, and yes, even The Greatest American Hero. Not sure about your idea? Post it and we'll discuss it.

Standard av rules apply: 200 x 200 pixels max 1 MB max. Please keep it work-safe and tasteful.

You may enter up to two avatars.
My favorite American hero-Indiana Jones.

I am going with a couple of the more obscure ones, that should not be forgotten.

First up is the original 'Quark'....Adam Quark, that is....starring Richard Benjamin:

The other is Steve Nichols, aka 'Hero At Large'....starring the late, great John Ritter:

^ I will freely admit that I am not well-versed in Superman lore, so I assume he got his citizenship at some point. But my first thought upon seeing that was, "isn't he actually an illegal alien, like, literally?"

This actually turned out to be not quite as easy as I initially assumed, but here we go:

- Dr. Ryan Stone, Gravity
(You can almost sorta kinda make out the American flag on her arm. I did find another picture where the flag was more visible, but I liked this one better. :) )

- John Loengard & Kim Sayers, Dark Skies
(I believe that is the Capitol Building in the background?)

Happy Independence Day to all the American entrants! :D

Clark Kent is a U.S. citizen through his adoptive parents. And if you wanna be super pedantic (no pun intended), Superman was granted honorary citizenship by all U.N. members, including the United States.

Is Angel a US citizen? He was born and lived in Ireland when he was turned into a vampire, and I doubt he could've gotten citizenship as a vampire (or would've cared about it), but that's just me thinking too much. What does the canon say?

Damnit -- it just occurred to me: Buffy Summers probably does count, either, since we found out later in the series a Slayer's powers comes from a demon source and who knows where that demon comes from. And without that demon, Buffy is just a regular person like Xander, who'd get beat up and would likely wind up dead one day.

No, Buffy is the child of US citizens born in the US. She's definitely a legal US citizen.

Buffy definitely counts as an American.

As in her demon that gives her the strength to even be a heroine or a hero (as opposed to Xander, Cordelia, and others who if it wasn't for Buffy, would be dead; See, for example, when Giles suspended her powers for a Watchers' test and Buffy running away and nearly dying).

IGNORE FROM HERE ON

Which one of these do you guys think is better?

Oh, boy.
Apart from my objection based on taste that I'd prefer to see the character rather than the title, to call MacGyver SF/F might be too much of a stretch.
