Once they were able to get rid of Lucas it was downhill![]()
Oh, stop being nice.![]()
This place is moderated, do feel free to mentally insert more honest words.
I apparently need to be more clear with my jokiness.
To be honest, if she does go it will be a self fulfilling prophecy, she'll be going precisely because of the abuse and childish temper tantrums of the very people who will gloat they had predicted it.
The franchise has done excellently under her, but there are sadly a few people determined to ruin it for the rest of us no matter how much hurt and damage they have to do or to whom.
Absolutely, it set a precedent where the fans could effectively "dismiss" someone by heaping abuse on them until they'd had enough of the first thing they see in the morning and last thing they see at night being strangers throwing vitriol in their direction. It worked once and like all badly behaved, bullying children these people learnt that it would work again.
It must be a truly awful experience and I'd not be surprised to find it resulting in the recipients developing depression and anxiety disorders. It's cruel.
I guess it makes sense to defend someone you think is being demonized but it's probably good to not be hyperbolic in response. How is someone not making more millions on a followup to their film them being particularly hurt or damaged? Even if they couldn't but especially if they could still make millions working on another film instead? And how are a few people complaining that the new movies are terrible and suggesting undecided people not see them anymore ruining the series for everyone else?

Many entertainment writers have been fired or no longer hired after their works failed or even didn't succeed enough and most seem to not have taken the fan criticism personally, some even admitted the fans had a point.
Refusing to watch something and suggesting other people also avoid it doesn't seem like bullying to me.
Truly, the ony way for somone to be ‘hurt’ is financially. That’s totally what people are talking about.
Not people being outright stalked and abused, and their harassers attempting to dodge responsibility because “they should expect it/it’s not a big deal/they’re successful enough not to care!”
‘Everyone’ else? Nah.
The person they dissuade, typically with a highly subjective word vomit of hyperbole? Over something you may not have even seen? Possibly.
After all: As the general fan reaction to Solo showed, you’ve possibly deprived them of an experience they might have enjoyed. All because you can’t help but vent your spleen for months on end.
(Which is one of the lines between ‘criticism’ and ‘harassment’ btw. Since you seem to have trouble finding it.)
Which is why everyone’s calling for the retirement of Ron Howard and Dave Filoni!
How can one be posting in a thread that title and OP, and still be this obtuse?
It’s either ballsy, and just assumes everyone else is blind. Or both.
"Damaging" Star Wars? Nah, not even close. If anything, Uncle George 'ruined' the scene with that horrid prequel trilogy.
I really enjoyed Force Awakens & The Last Jedi. Rogue One, too. And yes, I've been a fan since the beginning, having seen the original trilogy in theaters several times over. I've got opinions regarding the current hate campaign and ugly "SJW" remarks/accusations leveled at these recent films (seeing some brown & female faces got the 'good ol white boys club' up in arms, eh?), but this likely isn't the thread/place to delve any further into the subject.![]()

Actually I think it's exactly the place![]()
As this thread was designed to discuss the allegations that KK has done what she’s done in order to fill some agenda of destroying the white male (as a white male, don’t see it.), and that her actions are leading to the destruction of Star Wars which is apparently leading to her being fired, yeah, I think this is exactly the place.
I think that is a mature balanced point of view. I find it really hard to feel sorry for a successful and accomplished woman! What is it people say? Living well is the best revenge. Many entertainment writers have been fired or no longer hired after their works failed or even didn't succeed enough and most seem to not have taken the fan criticism personally, some even admitted the fans had a point.

Do you suppose being financially successful prevents people having feelings, prevents them feeling bullied and harassed?
George Lucas specifically gave up on SW because of the abuse and the effect it was having on his life .
I doubt these producers actually care who is writing about them. As far as I'm concerned Lucas gave us Star Wars and it was at its best with the original. The prequels did not do much for me. I liked TFA but even that was just a copy with less wonder. There is formula and I do think agenda, just that some people approve and others rail against it. I don't think Kennedy has damaged the franchise she's just ticked the boxes.

Personal attacks on the people shouldn't be considered acceptable, strong attacks on the work shouldn't be considered to be personal at all, let alone abuse or harassment. I don't believe people complaining about Lucas's work was heaping abuse on him.
