HBO's "Westworld", starring Anthony Hopkins/produced by J.J. Abrams

Saw the finale tonight.

I honestly wasn't sure where they were going to go with all this at the beginning of the season- have to say at the end that I'm pleasantly surprised. Looking forward to where they go with it in the future.

Hard to believe that this series stemmed from the idea behind the original WW movie- a futuristic park where the robots malfunction and kill the customers. This is that story pushed into the 21st Century and beyond; in a way it shows how far sci-fi has come, balanced against the real-world march of technology, computers, AI, and VR.

It was nice that the 3 main characters, William/MiB, Dolores and Bernard were together in a scene, though it was very brief.

Between this, NuBSG, and Humans (and several Netscape shows/movies), I hope we've learned pour lesson and never even TRY to create human-like AI robots!

Will be interesting to see Dolores' tactics next season. It seemed like she made a copy of herself, as now there is a Dolores in her original body and one in the other body. What else will she copy herself into? Giant animals?
.

We don't now if there are 2 copy's of Dolores, I just assumed her pearl in the Charlotte host was moved to the new Dolores body and one of the other pearls she brought back from the island then went into the Charlotte host. I am curious who the other pearls (besides Bernard) she brought back? Abernathy? Teddy? perhaps

Now, I am curious to see where they go from here, will they reopen the park. What happened with the other 5 parks (although we did see what happened in Shogun world)?

I believe she put Teddy into that "sublime" digital world that the ghost nation dudes and Maeve's child went to. There was a scene of him there.

We know that Bernard's control unit was in Charlores' bag when she left Westworld, and can assume that Abernathy's was as well; the others are more up-in-the-air.

We also don't know who is posing as Charlotte now that Dolores is back in her own skin.

There would have also had to be another (unseen to us) host before the new Dolores body, because you would need someone to remove the Delores pearl from Charlotte and put it in the new Delores body. Both of these hosts would have been non-functional during that procedure and this was also before the new Bernard was 'awake'. So someone had to do it, I would assume Dolores created that unseen host first, then made her new body, then made Bernards body.

Also, do you guys think that Dolores saved the virtual world in the satellite so she could then (at a later date) download hosts AI's from there to new physical hosts she is creating ? This would give her a small army to use on the mainland. Of course, she could always make blank hosts (like the white drones but human looking) and give them basic programming, but they would have no conscious then and would not be able to pass as human in the real world.

Well, Lisa Joy has said that we have to treat the Sublime as "Heaven" - that when they say that those Hosts are forever safe and removed from the show's storyline never to return, they mean exactly that.

I guess we'll see. :)

As of the end of The Passenger, there are exactly 3 Hosts left: Dolores, Bernard, and whoever is occupying Charlotte Hale's body. If you bring the Hosts from the Sublime back into play, that number goes up by at least 100, if not more, and suddenly gives you stories to tell again.

How so? The only characters we lose from that are Teddy, Akecheta, Kohana, and Maeve's daughter (I only just realized we never learned her name).

Exactly so.

They've only removed a few speaking Host characters from the show. Akecheta was a recent addition. Really, we've only lost Teddy. We lost Lawrence a couple of weeks ago.

Now, I'd expect that most of the "salvaged hosts" are going to come back in one way or another. Certainly Maeve is. Who knows whether even Clementine will be rebooted?

I don't imagine that it's accidental that the vast majority of the long-running speaking Host characters did not make it to the Sublime.

Now...among the long-running human characters, we lost Sizemore, Elsie and Hale. Anyone else?

Clearly, they've retained the majority of the cast for next season and are moving the story out from just the park into the human world - that's per Lisa Joy.

Plenty of story to run without the non-speaking and walk-on hosts who disappeared in the Sublime.

Nope.

Here's a list of all the casualties from Season 2:
Maeve Millay (Main Character)
Hector Escaton (Main Character)
Armistice (Main Character)
Peter Abernathy (Main Character)
Lawrence (Main Character)
Costa (Main Character)
Karl Strand (Main Character)
Elsie Hughes (Main Character)
Teddy Flood (Main Character)
Emily (Main Character)
Lee Sizemore (Main Character)
Robert Ford (Main Character)
Angela (Main Character)

Now, a list of the people who survived Season 2:
Dolores Abernathy (Main Character)
Bernard Lowe (Main Character)
Charlotte Hale (Main Character)
Ashley Stubbs (Main Character)
William (Main Character)

That's 5 characters, only 3 of whom are Hosts, and one of whom isn't likely to be seen outside of the confines of the Westworld park complex itself.

Maeve, Hector, Armistice, and Hanaryo all can be revived in some form. The question is whether their personalties will be wiped or not, but considering Felix and Sylvester have been tasked to work on them, I expect they'll retain their memories.

Angela is probably dead for good and Abernathy had a proper farewell, but I wouldn't be surprised if through some hand-waving, they were among the brain pearls Halores (as Tessa Thompson herself calls the character) smuggled out. Long shot, yes, but not out of the question.

Clementine is also an either or, but I certainly hope she returns just to see how furious she'll be to know how much everyone used her for their own goals.

Lawrence could easily be revived as well, although probably with a reset.
