We know a lot more about the possible future of Star Trek than we did when I made a poll a couple of weeks ago so here's the updated version. Many of these are rumour, no doubt some plans have changed especially with a new showrunner in the Discoverse.
I've loved the three Kelvin movies so far, so of course Star Trek 4 is at the top of my list. I want that crew to keep going on big-budget adventures forever. The next movie after that from Quentin Tarantino may or may not feature the Kelvin universe cast, will probably be rated R and could be a remake of "City on the Edge of Forever" or "Yesterday's Enterprise" - but those are guesses based on interviews from years ago.
I'm hopeful for the Starfleet Academy series. I really want it to be a reboot/prequel Smallville-in-space thing. Marvel did a great academy comic series in the 90's, Shatner's novel Collision Course was a lot of fun and supposedly based on a TV series pitch from the noughties, I loved the academy bits of the 2009 movie and there's always the unmade The Academy Years movie prequel/reboot that never happened in 1991. Kirk, Spock and the rest save the galaxy between classes. This could be awesome.
The Patrick Stewart/Picard/Next Gen reunion is interesting. I'm mostly curious though what it'll look like, and especially what Worf would look like like if he appears.
We'll know if the Pike series is worth anything when we meet nunuPike in the next episode of Discovery. I'm curious what kind of stories can be told in this show that couldn't just be more Disco episodes.
And speaking of Disco... season 1 was mostly good but ended flatly. Hoping season 2 builds to a satisfying crescendo and has far fewer Burnham speeches.
Khan on Ceti Alpha V holds zero interest. I wan't an alternate-history 90's series about the Eugenics Wars.
The Animated series could be anything. As long as it gets kids watching the movies and buying the toys, I'm all for it.
