Sony Spider-Verse discussion thread

Yeah, I know all of that (including the spoiler), but I just don't like Peter Parker being dopey. :p

Well, as I posted before, Silver and Black isn't inherently dead, just delayed so they can continue to work on the script.

Round and round we go. Now it seems as if Sony wants to develop a movie around the character Silk. It's an interesting choice considering that Cindy Moon was already in Spider-Man Homecoming (and Infinity War!).

The fact that the character has already shown up in a Sony film and as a "loaner" in a Marvel Studios film that is connected to said Sony film doesn't mean anything.

Since Sony holds the rights to the character, they can do whatever they want with her regardless of what may have ALREADY been done with her.

So? The film could easily be set after Homecoming and indirectly reference Infinity War should Sony want to narrative link it to the MCU in a tangential manner.
Cindy Moon got her powers at the same time as Peter, hence why I said they'd have to change her origin.

Wow, they're pretty much throwing every Spider-Man related character into their own movie at this point.
So who has the rights to Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew?

Well, since she has literally no connection to Spider-Man, I'd assume she's Disney, although they might have some kind of arrangement about using the "Spider-______" type name.

I know in universe she has no real connection to Spider-Man, but Marvel still seems to put with the other Spider-Man characters when it comes to games, and figures and things like that.

I don't care about Morbius, but I think he stands better on his own. Leto is an interesting choice. I wonder if this is redemption for his Joker or if he'll still carry some baggage.

Yeah -- "The Living Vampire" has obvious potential as a standalone horror movie, just like Silver and Black has potential as a heist movie. Sony's in the interesting position of having the rights to a number of Marvel characters that could drive movies in non-superhero genres.

Leto is an interesting choice. I wonder if this is redemption for his Joker or if he'll still carry some baggage.

I've seen Leto in two movies now, Suicide Squad and Blade Runner 2049 (well, three if you count the Blade Runner short he was also in), and I've found him equally unappealing in both. He puts on this pretense of being a method actor who goes to enormous lengths to transform himself into each character, but from what I can see, it's total bull, because method acting is supposed to be about giving a naturalistic performance that doesn't feel faked, and both his performances I've seen have been incredibly fakey, affected, pretentious, broad, self-indulgent, and really quite mediocre. I wasn't hugely interested in Morbius to begin with, but I have no interest whatsoever in a Jared Leto Morbius.
