Season 8, Capaldi's first year. Though, as it turned out then she was just the first of many classic companions who paid a visit to the set and met with Capaldi.

Jebus! It doesn't seem like that long ago.
Nope, didn't even know it existed. I'm fine with waiting for the official trailer, despite impatiently awaiting the new season.
I haven't seen the clip, but I like her outfit (though I suppose that might be part of Capaldi's outfit) and the goggles which give her a steampunk vibe. And the Sonic, though very different, looks pretty cool.
ETA: I've now seen the clip. I think her accent is fine. I had no trouble understanding her.

She sort of comes over as Jane Horrocks (in her Chicken Run persona) playing Matt Smith... I'm just waiting for her to say "I don't want to be a pie- I don't like gravy!" I like the steampunk look in the sonic pics, though, shame it's probably between ditching Capaldi's outfit for her own in the course of the episode.
He’s had accents before. And given we are now apparently classifying Leeds as part of London allegedly, he’s been northern and then some many times. People only think he’s been RP based all the time...more than half the doctors had an accent, and of those, only one has been a London accent...and he was played by a Scotsman. Well..I suppose Bill Hartnell went a bit London. Let’s call it one and a half. I think only Hartnell was an actual Londoner playing the character also. So it’s been pretty diverse in that sense. Pertwee is pretty West Country (I am ready to stand corrected, since here in London, accents get fuzzy if they aren’t the obvious ones...or more accurately geography does, if you don’t drive, and I don’t.) Sylv is Scots, McGann is Souse...lightly...Ecclestone is ...generic Northern...Tennant is BBC Estuary London....Capaldi is mostly Scots....Hartnell drifts between RP and East End Old Man...Troughton is something I can’t identify, but it’s not quite RP....Davison, Baker and Baker, and Smith are straight RP. And now there’s a lass in the role.
We dodged a bullet. Could have Birmingham...or Dudley...or Newcastle....Glaswegian would be worth it for the American money. The most surprising thing is, no one’s gone welsh with it. They could have gone all in and got Rob Rydon.
I'd say that they've all been 'BBC standard' with hints of something underneath except McCoy, Eccleston, Capaldi and now Jodie.
If you want to be fannishly silly about patterns, then in terms of actual incarnations (i.e., Capaldi is 14 due to Hurt and Tennant 2)...
4 and 8 are closet Scousers.
7 and 14 are Scottish.
10 is Mancunian/North West
15 is Yorkshire/North East.
So 12 would have been another closet Scouser had it not been for double-Tennant, 16 will be the same, 20 should be open Scouser (as that's also North-West), 21 & 28 Scottish and 30 North Eastern.
But that notion is very silly!

And a Welsh accent would do great! Craig Charles sure does a good job, well early Craig Charles Red Dwarf seasons 1-3 anyhow. Love that accent.

You know what is really funny, watching Who over the years i personally was never really aware of a actors accent, or to be a bit more specific it was such a unimportant bit of background minuta that is never dawned on me to any real level of concious, same with the costume if it was good or bad, because all that seemed important was here is the new Dr and let's hope he meets the Daleks, then the internet happened and all hell broke loose, or does that mean i was simply too thick to have such high brow thinking without the interent and we were just grateful to have any sci-fi on TV, no doubt the latter. lol
The only time and accent matters is (a) if it makes the characters hard to understand (more a problem with bad sound mixing...) or (b) when the accent is your own being badly done. This has led to the creation of ‘mockney’ which seems to be an infection created by eastenders. I am sure other people get the same laugh....whilst Doc Marten May seem to be oretty good with its accents, I am pretty sure someone down by the moors think ITV are all Bodmin. On the other hand, if the accents are accurate...they have been very educational, and I can now probably blend in across the U.K. especially as an impromptu vote many years ago revealed I had a more convincing welsh accent than two actual welshmen in my workplace.
If you want accents in who, start the campaign to get me cast now, and I promise to use two accents an episode, sometimes in the same sentence.
^^^Last time i saw a full episode of Eastenders was when someone had a break down about stolen money or something and Tucker from Grange hill was in it, and last full episide of Corry i saw was when Stan and Eddie were washing windows, that is without a word of a lie, hate soaps with a passion, so i am somewhat behind on how things are today on tv. lol
I was gonna say, I always thought Lister's/Craigs accent, at least in RD, was pure Liverpudlian. His accent is much less pronounced in the later series'.
He’s been living in London a long time. Think he probably did a stint in Manchester too about the time of Corrie. And downplays his cheeky chappie routine now.
