TLJ originally had a May 2017 release (to coincide with the 40th anniversary of ANH) but was delayed.I still don't get releasing in May, when they had established a successful pattern releasing in December.

If you want to advocate for someone getting fired with a meme, use a meme for someone getting fired, and don't use one depicting someone being killed, even if it's fictionally killed by a sci-fi device. Otherwise it's going to look like you're trying to hide behind a joke.
Oh nooooo, I never realised!
i have a hard time giving a fuck about the ‘meaning:’
But thanks for explaining ‘it’s all a joke bro.’
That's true. You really didn't.
So what's the deal? Is it that you find the notion of a wealthy executive ending up temporarily unemployed to be such an abhorrent concept that it borders on thoughtcrime? Or is anything a death threat if you say it is? That's usually how the "hard time giving a fuck about meaning" crowd rolls.
Doesn't mean they lost momentum or that somehow it damaged the Star Wars brand. Any more than people stopped being fans because of the PT.
Also "pissed on Luke" is hyperbole, at best. It's been 6 months and I still don't get the anger towards it. It's as if the characters in Star Wars are not allowed to be people.![]()
To me, Luke in the beginning of TLJ was a character who had kind of lost his way. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It happens to real people.
No, it really really isn't. It's fucking disgusting, and I find it seriously disturbing that anybody would find it even the slightest bit funny.10 years from now wouldn't be much of a victory. Thankfully we won't have to wait that long. It will happen quite soon, the momentum is building and soon mainstream outlets will be having these discussions.
It's a combination of box office, fan and general audience response and critical response. Marvel Studios wins at all of these... Transformers does not. That's why the Transformers franchise sunk like the DCEU after a string of bad and divisive films, and the box office lead to diminishing returns, akin to Solo.
The funny thing is I'm not even a Star Wars fan. I think Star Wars is totally silly and juvenile for the most part, but I can respect it's role in filmmaking history.
I just find the whole behind the scenes studio drama fascinating and worthy of discussion. I love when all these things go haywire. It was just as amusing seeing the DCEU implode.
I can't wait to see how the Kathleen drama unfolds and how Disney will rectify all of this. Some big changes are coming for sure.
Because you're transgender, are you referring to a female character? or transgender character? If the later is so, I wasn't sure if one existed in SW yet.
I'm all for representation of all types if handled well (Black Panther)........... especially in a fictional universe populated by weird aliens.
Yep. Hilarious though.
Sure you say that now after seeing the reaction it got, but I have to wonder what exactly you'd be saying if everyone else said things along the lines of "haha yeah, kill the bitch"?It's okay.
I will retract that photo, out of consideration for those who are very sensitive regarding what it may or may not imply.
[But seriously, those memes are all over the net, and it's just referring to her losing her job, I'm not calling for her murder...lol, so ridiculous]
Some folks don't want real people. They want simplistic idealized heroes. They want to feel warm and fuzzy about them like they did when they were kids. Which makes it near impossible to do anything interesting with the characters.

By the end of the movie, he had found 'peace and purpose,' was vindicated, and was portrayed in a very reverent manner as befits a Jedi Master rising above our mundane physical plane of existence. I really, really, really don't get all the anger from viewers about this.
Kor
Luke wasn't an action hero, maybe? Dunno.
You do know that Disney has a certain Mary Poppins sequel coming out for Christmas, right?
Well, to that I'll just say that The Empire Strikes Back is one of those few-in-a-lifetime masterpieces. It's stood up really well and it was even ahead of its time in 1980. No Star Wars film since has equaled it. I think the 1977 film happens to be better, but certainly many if not most fans think TESB is best and I can actually wrap my head around that point of view quite easily. It's more complicated than that. It's like in music where you play a minor chord to create tension and then you play a major chord and the tension is released. The TFA cliffhanger was a minor chord, Luke rejecting Rey was another minor chord. Failed Casino run and loosing most of the Resistance was yet another Minor Chord. The Major chord at the the end of this better be really good, and it wasn't. Luke is a Projection so he never actually has it out with Kylo, then he is absorbed into the Force. That's yet another Minor Chord. We never get to see Luke be a great Jedi. That all happened between movies. To continue the metaphor the movie is discordant all the way through.
There's a mix of major and minor in Empire, but the balance better and while the ending is similar to TLJ, it just works better, and certainly much less dire.

Okay? They always have movies releasing. They own half the schedule already.
On this point I'll disagree. I thought Luke becoming one with the Force was a massive major chord, and one that will likely pay off in the next film.Luke is a Projection so he never actually has it out with Kylo, then he is absorbed into the Force. That's yet another Minor Chord.
Maybe because Luke was overrated?
Agree.This. I think it is easily one of the top 25 films ever made. It just clicked in a way (for me) that very few films ever manage.
