Spoilers DC's Legends of Tomorrow - Season 3

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bjr2MG1HXS8/

Yo! Soo as a lot of you have now read, I’m not returning next season as a series regular for @cwtheflash or @cw_legendsoftomorrow. It’s definitely not a total goodbye or “see ya never” situation, cause Wally West will still be round when you need him the most! :) It’s just that it won’t be full time anymore.

I’ve changed a lot in the past year (as you’ve probably noticed lol), and for infinite reasons my perspective on life & what I want from it now is just completely different. Because of that, my heart told me it was the right time to continue my journey on an unknown path, and I’m so damn grateful to both shows for honouring & respecting that with me.
I love Kid Flash, I love the family I’ve made, & I’m absolutely in love with the invaluable lessons I’ve learnt along the way. Thank you for believing in me & rooting for Wally to thrive, you honestly helped me see that i did indeed deserve to play him, & that shit right there made me a stronger actor Anyway, I hope you stick around for the new adventures, the only thing I can promise is Magic.

I'm disappointed he's leaving, but at least it was purely his choice.

I assume he wants to pursue a movie career. He was recently in the movie Love, Simon.
Directed by Greg Belanti ironically...

Sorry to see him leave as a regular, he was finally getting something fun to do on Legends (even if it led to being conveniently sidelined)...

Lonsdale posted on Twitter that it was his own choice not to be a regular on either Legends or The Flash next season. That he loves the character and this does not rule out seeing him return occasionally. That he wants the opportunity to do other things too. It's best to look it up to see his exact words. I would share but he shared it written in 2 picture files and not sure how to do that.

Often fans blame the producers and writers for these departures. Over looking it could totally the choice of the actors themselves. At least it was on good terms and there is an opening for him to return.

This is probably for the best. I think both series have way too many regular cast members. Zari has been barely explored than brought in Wally, and now John Constantine.

I feel like the writers get so excited about bringing these new characters every year they do not think how they are going to mange all of them. Like a kid who buys every new toy and most end up being unused quickly because their attention goes to the next shiny new object they see.

Of course this could just be Hollywood speak that everyone goes along with so they don't have to say he is being fired. Basically the Hollywood version of a poltiican wanting to "spend more time with my family.' Not saying that is what has happened but I wouldn't fully believe the initial stuff you hear at first.

On the other hand, there's no reason to assume the worst without evidence. That's called paranoia.

I was just reading an editorial that mentioned the tendency of people who watch or read a lot of fiction to start thinking that real life works the same way. Everything in fiction is full of melodrama and secrets, so we make the kneejerk assumption that everything in real life has some big drama or intrigue behind it. But most things are generally a lot more banal than that. Actors' real lives are rarely as dramatic as their characters' lives. So if an actor says he left the show for personal reasons, most of the time that's just going to be the truth rather than a coverup for some sinister machinations. Only actors' jobs are meant to entertain us. The rest of their lives are their own business and we have no right to intrude on them or judge them or assume they're lying to us when they're kind enough to give us a peek into their personal affairs.

Also in this day and age we are lucky for the actors who decide to stay with a series for many years. It’s not like it used to be where actors were pigeonholed for either working in tv or film. There are so many different media venues to work in. It must be tempting to explore other roles instead of doing only the same one year after year. If the producers of The Flash and Legends are willing to give him the freedom to return as Wally when it works for him, it not surprising he would want to enjoy that option.

Yeah, it's wild how the Arrowverse lets actors just drop in and out of various different shows or have part-time gigs across the franchise. Multiple actors have left one show only to keep coming back on that or other shows -- Katie Cassidy, Wentworth Miller, John Barrowman, Neal McDonough, etc. Not to mention half the Legends cast. (I halfway expect Mr. Terrific to end up as a Legend if he ever leaves Arrow. He was really impressed by the Waverider.)

You never know but I have been following Keiynan Lonsdale (sounds so stalker-y lol) off and on with Twitter and what not and he seems to be really exploring who he is and wants to be since coming out so these actions aren't out of character at least.

Oh, I didn't know that. It's natural enough, then, that he'd want to re-examine his life or go on walkabout or whatever. Life imitating art -- first Wally goes off to find himself, now Lonsdale does.

Has the Arrowverse version of Wally ever expressed an interest in dating women? I wonder if Wally will introduce a husband whenever Lonsdale guest-stars in the future.

I guess personally whatever they do I would hate for them to make Wally's sexuality into a negative factor like that.
