But that's actually my point. People need to get over cunt, it's a fucking word. People are pissed off over a fucking word more than they are over Trump being a rapist and Roseanne being a racist.
Racism and rape is worst than cunt and we act like it's not.
Rape / sexual assault and racism are actually problems, cunt is a word and a made up problem.
I don't care about the website, I'm saying the population, people, and 'news' in general care more about calling someone a bad word than they do with the fact that the so called president is a rapist and has admitted to crimes on tape!
I don't really think it's up to men to decide whether or not the c-word has power, any more than it's up to white people to dictate to black people about the use and power of the n-word. There's different regional perspectives on the power of the word, and there's different takes among women about whether it should remain a slur or if it should be reclaimed. But that's for them to work out as the people most affected by it and for the rest of us to stay out of the way and listen to and respect what they decide. The current consensus in the US is that the c-word is a deeply offensive slur here, and therefore that is how it is treated on the board.
It has nothing to do with minimizing racism or rape, and using that to criticize a mod asking you to stop throwing the c-word around as an insult and a joke is ridiculous since he has opposed those behaviors on numerous occasions. If you want to level that charge at people who actually excuse Donald Trump's behavior but suddenly act outraged about Samantha Bee, then that's a fair criticism of those people. But there's no hypocrisy on the part of people who think Trump is wrong for being a racist and a rapist and also think it's wrong (albeit to a far lesser degree) for Samantha Bee to use the c-word as a slur, even if it's in pursuit of a righteous cause like preventing the separation of immigrant families and calling out the Trump family's (and Trump supporter's) hypocrisy and spinelessness.
Everything is perry picking. People say 'ape' isn't as bad as cunt, but ape has a racial history in the USA and cunt is a cunt. It's like you can say bitch on network TV but 25 years ago that be a huge deal. Words being 'bad' or not change all the time.
If Sam Bee said 'pussy' instead no one would have brought it up. Also people care more about her saying cunt than they do about Samantha Bee saying Trump and his daughter have sex. Like incest is fine, but don't you dare say the c-word!!!1!1!!!!
The c-word has a long and complicated history as well. It started out as an innocuous descriptor of female genitalia, just as the n-word was originally derived from the Spanish word for "black" before it became a racist slur. Does that mean we should ignore the subsequent history of the words and how they are used today (at least, in the US)?
Who is saying Roseanne's "ape" comment isn't worse than Sam Bee's comment that's not already a hypocritical Trump supporter willing to look the other way for all of his bigotry, misogyny, xenophobia, sexual assault, and corruption? Roseanne's comment was meant to demean an entire group of people, undeserving of her criticism, based purely on her personal racism and baseless conspiracy theories, while Samantha Bee's use of the c-word was meant to criticize Ivanka Trump's cowardice and hypocrisy on the issue of immigrant children being separated from their parents, while claiming to be an advocate for children. One is outright bigotry and hatred (and a long history of it) for no purpose, and the other is crossing the line one time due to understandable anger about an injustice.
Actually, there are plenty of people who object to the use of the word "pussy" as an insult, because it implies that there is weakness in femininity.
The reason the incest insult against Trump works is because it's gross that he sexualizes his daughter like that, and has done it so often. Do you think people say it because they don't care about incest? They say because they do, and they think he's wrong.
