Colony Season 3 Discussion

I'm still leaning toward Broussard found a different camp. But if so, they should have rearranged the set to make it look like a different camp.

Why are they paradropoing leaflets into the outside zones? Humans were herded into the colonies. I assumed the outside was forbidden/no man's land/anyone outside the colony is subject to execution. There should, theoretically, not be anyone to find the leaflets.

I wondered about the identical camp too. Might have just been to throw us viewers off.

I also wondered about the leaflets. It sounds like they're repopulating Seattle and need more people. But, the few living outside colonies aren't likely to trust the collaborators!

In some ways it feels a little like Falling Skies especially with the new walking drone and a new alien race(?) that are enemies of the 'Hosts' that invaded Earth. Of course, Colony is a much better show than Falling Skies, IMO.

I'm still intrigued. In my opinion they haven't nose dive into crazy land the way Falling Skies did. Man did that show go off the rails.

OK I retract my statement. It's not in crazy land that Falling Skies went to, but I'm feeling the vibe. The basic concept is similar. At least Will Bowman isn't a school teacher.

Right...Wasn't that the most dumbest thing they could of done! I am furious with the stupid boneheaded nit-wits that decided to do such an immoral thing! I am done with the show now!

@ColonyUSA Boycott and don't watch the show! I am totally disappionted in them for killing Charlie--a kid at that! No more watching it!

Be brave and boycott Colony for their stupid senceless action! I have done it many of times with other shows I loved! It is unnecsessary to go that far to kill a kid! No show is worth that!

No! There is never a good reason to kill any child in a show or a movie! That is pure asinine action and immoral on every level!

From a story standpoint Charlie was kinda useless after his rescue from Santa Monica, and added more baggage.

Snyder is still a prick, but he is a great character though.

Yeah, it was sad but, really, how could all of them make through the hail of bullets? At least the outcome was somewhat realistic.
So, yes , Snyder is a self-centered prick, but his reaction to seeing under the tarp said a lot. He is by far the most interesting character in the show; it might be because the actor is more talented than all of the Bowman family- actors combined.

This week's episode takes place between loosing and finding the shoe

This was actually a far more intense and draining episode than I was expecting. There were constant deadly threats to the Bowman family. At one point, you can see that Will is a broken man by being unable to protect his family and faced with the possibly of losing Bram right in front of him. As someone said earlier, it wouldn't have been believable for both kids to survive that hail of bullets, but I didn't actually think they'd kill one off! That was a shock at the end of a draining episode. And, the family's reaction was appropriately heartbreaking.

Snyder was fantastic in this episode. They had started using his special survival instincts combined with IGA knowledge particularly well in the past several episodes, and he was in top form in this one. It's a shame he's going to Geneva as it would've been great seeming him "helping" the Bowmans in his own way.

It's also a shame that the Rap is now back in Occupation hands. The showrunners wasted a good opportunity for more back and forth dialog. Kind of teased us with that and took it away. Not cool.

I suspect that the injured daughter will be left with a family in Seattle while Will, Kate, and Bram probably join forces with Broussard to do something. Not sure what. Maybe save the occupants of Seattle?

Charlie had a lot of potential with how his survival instincts put Bram to shame. He might've even been one of their best soldiers if the characters saw him as more than just his age. But they never did anything with it.

Yes, that was an unexpected death, but a necessary one. It would have been too hard to accept that the whole Bowman family could have escaped unscathed from such a hellacious firefight. Charlie did have a lot of potential, given all that he'd survived in Santa Monica, and that makes his death all the more tragic.

I continue to love Snyder as a character, greasy little snake that he is. There's an almost admirable quality to him, the pure survivor, willing to do whatever it takes to continue in the corrupt system that gave an unscrupulous small college dean the power of life or death over millions.

I, too, was worried that with the introduction of a second alien species that Colony was headed into Falling Skies territory, but so far that hasn't happened. We've discovered that whatever the Raps originally were, there's only a few hundred of them left, and that their machine nature made it easy for a handful of them to conquer Earth, given our dependence on technology in the 21st century.

Well that episode was a little drab. So Wayne Brady is king of Seattle

Good to see Brussard has fine found Will.

Not really the best episode. Although, I suppose they have to show what "normal" life looks like in Seattle before they can show what's really going on. And, gasp, could it be that the occupation is running it for their own nefarious purposes?!

I thought Will's side investigation was pointless to show. Made you think it was leading to something interesting . . . but no. Hopefully they move on to the next phase of the story soon. However, I bet they're setting up a situation where Bram takes care of the daughter while Will, Kate, and Broussard take care of business. That way they don't have to worry about the kids.

So we have had Stephen Lobo and now Brian Markinson on the show... any other of the cast of COntnuum making an appearance??

I didn't just watch like 4 episodes in a row... not at all..

I just watched Charlie get murdered and damn did that hurt. But frankly you need to kill them off otherwise it's not real anymore. Looks at you Falling Skies..... Yes this show is a little like it with the walking mech things, but that's it. I feel like this one has a plan.

Just got caught up on this show. Random thoughts on this season:

First of all, this show is good. Glad I stuck around through the slow bits of the first season or two. Really glad they got out of LA. The massive change of scenery in the first few episodes this season was extremely appreciated. Even Seattle has proven to be a welcome change. (And they probably save some f/x money by not having drones flying around all the time.)

Can't believe that after opportunity #429 to kill him, Snyder is still alive. That guy is something else! I love that he's always more than happy to spill the beans, you just can't be sure which parts he's telling you are the truth and which are made up and what he's omitting. Very interesting that we're being asked to wonder about whether the Hosts are really our allies and here to save us or not. That certainly presents some awesome grey areas, as we know they've killed millions of humans, but if they're humanity's best chance at survival...

And that's another great thing about this season, the revelations have finally been coming. After spending most of the first season wondering what the heck was really going on, we're finally getting lots of answers to various questions. There are still tons of questions of course, but at least we're starting to get some ideas of what's going on.

Seattle's got some interesting twists as a story. All the Outliers roaming about, and what Wayne Brady's ultimate goal is, and where his allegiances lie. Bram's been a pleasant presence this season, as a competent companion to his parents. (I hope they're not about to ruin that with his girlfriend's family.)

I liked the parallel journeys to Seattle for Broussard and the Bowmans. And Charlie getting killed was rough, but a few minutes before that happened, when all hell was breaking loose at the camp, I was getting pissed at the show for letting them all get away unharmed. Then I saw what they were setting up and I immediately felt bad.

Looking forward to seeing where this is going.
