Some color would have been helpful as part of it.While I can't say I'm a fan of TMP these minor tweaks would have went a long way into making me like it a bit more.

Whose ever said "The Cage" isn't canon?
It's also an episode with a cannon.Seriously. EVERYONE knows "The Cage" is canon and Gene even said so. That's one of the silliest statements about TOS I've ever heard.
The Kazon hold more water than that opinion does.
Did you watch the 2009 movie? They reimagined the Enterprise first.I have chosen not to watch season 2 as I am not interested in seeing them completely bastardise the original Enterprise
CBS. Consider Discovery, which retcons the look of the USS Enterprise, the uniforms (department colours as well as designs), the terminology ("time warp factor 5!"), the technology (laser weapons and not phasers, no holographic technology etc)Whose ever said "The Cage" isn't canon?
Enterprise retconned those things ages ago.the terminology ("time warp factor 5!"), the technology (laser weapons and not phasers, no holographic technology etc)
Yes, but Discovery is doing it now and that is bad.Enterprise retconned those things ages ago.
It's a lot less jarring when it's a show set a century before and not new actors playing the same roles in the same era but everything looks, sounds and happens differently.Enterprise retconned those things ages ago.
I'm talking about the terminology. It's a lot less jarring when it's a show set a century before and not new actors playing the same roles in the same era but everything looks, sounds and happens differently.
The points remains, "The Cage" as we saw it (and all of TOS), didn't happen the same way in the Discoverse

I'm sure something like "The Cage" happened in Discovery's version of the Prime Universe, but it would have happened somewhat differently.
I don't see how. Nothing in Discovery has broken the Cage's lore.Continuity-wise, however, they couldn't be more different.
The points remains, "The Cage" as we saw it (and all of TOS), didn't happen the same way in the Discoverse. Hence me treating it like a separate continuity.
So what you're saying is that there are two versions of "The Cage", one where they used this terminology and one where they used the new?I'm talking about the terminology.
So you think they went from Phase(r), to Laser and then back to Phaser?
Warp to Time Warp and then back again?
We know Kirk and Spock wouldn't have had the conversation about cloaking devices being theoretical in "Balance of Terror", since cloaks are common just a decade earlier in the Discoverse. That's events unfolding differently. There is no evidence that the events played out differently.
This is fair enough, although I suggest the word "canon" has become synonymous with "continuity"But that doesn't change the fact that "The Cage" is still canon. Canon and continuity are two different things. Both "The Cage" and DSC are canon. Continuity-wise, however, they couldn't be more different.
Enterprise already did that.We know Kirk and Spock wouldn't have had the conversation about cloaking devices being theoretical in "Balance of Terror", since cloaks are common just a decade earlier in the Discoverse. That's events unfolding differently.
And that makes it okay how...?Enterprise already did that.
I'm just saying, it isn't Discovery's fault. And that makes it okay how...?
I am!I'm just saying, it isn't Discovery's fault.
Complain about series, not just one.
“The Cage” is NOT canon.
