For what purpose? Luke didn't really do much interesting prior to ANH, aside from a cameo in a potential Obi-Wan prequel, I'm not really sure what they'd do with a young Luke. I suppose with Leia there are stories about involving political intrigue and clandestine Rebel Alliance type stuff you could tell with her, though I'm not sure you could sustain that for more than one movie. Stuff set during the trilogy or immediately after is a possibility, I guess, though given the ancillary material is going whole-hog in these time periods, I'm not sure we should expect the movies to do much here either. The most likely result of these numbers is a sequel to Solo getting made.

We already have books and comics covering a lot of time between the OT movies. I guess they could make movie adaptations of those. They'd do "interstitial" movies between ANH and ESB, and between ESB and ROTJ, and then post-ROTJ. I'd be willing to bet money that this happens now. Maybe they do a couple other Solo movies solo (heh) and then jump into the recast-big-three arc of hell 12 movies or so, seems like the sky is the limit.
Maybe they'll even get big egos and remake ANH, ESB and ROTJ with the new cast. It would be hysterical if they had the guts to do that. Probably would make plenty of money. Seems like anything makes money at the movies as long as a big fat brand name is attached.

With all the novels, comics and cartoons Disney has already put out in those time periods featuring the original characters that Disney is insisting are canon? Not really sure how you can fit movies around them. They'd do "interstitial" movies between ANH and ESB, and between ESB and ROTJ, and then post-ROTJ. I'm not bothered by recasting characters for prequel movies, but seeing new actors in movies set between the movies with the original cast would just be to weird.
The latest news about John Favreau's upcoming TV series is that it takes place 7 years after ROTJ. The article noted that while it would be all new characters, the possibility existed for "familiar cameos". I'm not sure how they're going to do that, short of recasting or CGI (or just throw in droids).
The source said a Disney Press kit.It depends. Where did the credit list come from?
Sure, but they are also most familiar with it as well. Disney can absorb a few duds, as well as retool around the merchandise to improve sales again. The danger Disney faces most, is Star Wars Fatigue. The toy sales alone have fallen 70%. That's their bread and butter. To be honest, I could care less for any merchandise based on Disney Star Wars. Most sales in the toy realm still center around the classic series.
