Could the Coliseum be gutted and have something built inside ala: Solider Field?

That's probably the most realistic solution, yeah.
Of course, I'm assuming the Coliseum even has a similar structure ie: the outer colonnades to Soldier Field. I have no real idea, but it would allow them to stay put and have a brand new state-of-the-art field. Then they just have to find a place to play for 2 seasons.
There’s a nice park across the Bay, though the Giants aren’t the most cooperative of teams.
There's really nothing worth preserving at the (Oakland) Coliseum. And there's no need for it anyway - the A's have plenty of room to build a new ballpark on that site while continuing to play in the existing stadium. And like I said it helps that the Warriors and Raiders are no longer hogging any part of the property.

I could actually be picturing the LA Coliseum in my head too. But I'm not sure if that one has the proper layout for that type of rebuild either, but they are rebuilding it at least.
Yeah, sure, 20/20 hindsight, but I just knew as soon as Tito ordered the intentional walk of Stanton, Gleyber Torres was gonna walk it off. 
Not really. They still had the Raiders at that point, and it is likely contracts gave the Raiders the ability to block any changes on the property while they were a tenet.
Now they are no longer an issue.

You're right. Though I figure it would take at least that long to rob Oakland-Alameda County and the City of Oakland, then get plans drawn up. Not sure they could get construction started any sooner if they wanted to.
^Libby Schaaf is adamant that the public will not pay for a new stadium, so if they want to stay in Oakland, they’ll have to find another way to finance it.
That's why they offered to buy the Coliseum outright and renovate it themselves.
The most preferable option is to go to San Jose, but, again, that would require the Giants to pull their head out of their ass.
In other news, the Cubs put Darvish on the 10-day DL with "parainfluenza"--which one Cubs beat writer quoted a doctor as saying "it's a fancy term for a cold"--retroactive to May 4, and Maddon effectively admitted it was a wink-wink nudge-nudge move to give him a breather by saying "ask the Dodgers" about roster bullshit.
