They never said that's how it works. As another poster pointed out upthread, as far as we know "half of all life" means that whole species could have been eliminated. At least, that's how I took it.

if it's really random, and we have no reason to think it's not, then on a planetary scale no species would be wiped out. Statistics doesn't work like that.

Thanks, but you're wrong. On a universal scale, there would definitely be a non-zero chance of some species being obliterated.
It'll be interesting to see if it has legs or is it front loaded somewhat with people going to see it early. But you would think with an opening like that the execs might be looking for a US$2bn+ on the worldwide box office.
They already moved it a week because they didn't want Deadpool's same target audience sucking any legs IW has out from under it. I'm pretty sure they're expecting to top this coming weekend and the next anyway. The story is certainly dense enough to warrant multiple viewings while still in theatres.

Happened back in early March, supposedly for the sake of fans' eagerness, but more likely to avoid Deadpool and Solo for one more week.
I think it's more a case of the US release was brought forward by a week.
Yes, I know in North America it got changed by a full week, but it was always going to be out the 26th or 27th outside of the States.

Some interview that was quoted on Wikipedia prior to Infinity War's release said something about Hawkeye being "on a special journey of his own".
I think he's implicitly talking about sapient life only. Also, he's not called "The Mad Titan Thanos" for his temperament.
I hate when a demographic group and its home location have the exact same name. It's so lazy. And in the case of the MCU, it obfuscates how Titan is unrelated to the real life moon of Saturn as in other continuities. Why can't the planet be called "Titania" or "Titanland" or something like that while the species takes the term "one Titan / many Titans"?
Saw it, gave it an A-, mainly for moments where the humor just undercut the seriousness of the whole thing. But the humor did work fine for me, for the most part, when personalities clashed. Also, the moments where they nerfed Thanos abilities was not just obvious but often times annoyingly so. I'm talking about Thanos, a guy who beat the Hulk down before having all the stones, not exploding Caps head when he punched him, or Tony, or anyone lower than Hulk level really.
Still, didn't hurt my overall enjoyment of the film. While I've been getting bored with each Marvel Studios film, I have to say this one was a winner for me. The first Avengers was great because it was the characters from the various movies. This one topped it because while it was called "Avengers" it might as well have been called "Marvel Universe: Infinity War". Having that many heroes in one movie is, pardon the pun, marvelous and something I never really imagined would ever happen back when I was a kid reading comics.
It will be interesting to see how they resolve the story, and I hope they can figure out how to top this one. Unless it's like a Kill Bill thing where part two is far less action oriented than the first. I mean, really, where do you go from Part One in trying to top it? Can't wait to see it again next weekend!

To space-fairing cultures, "planet of origin" is functionally the same thing as "nationality". Also note that "Zandarian" is applied this way, regardless of species.
As I've already pointed out, the real world Titan is named (by 19th century humans) after Greek mythology (as is Saturn itself), so the myth is the origin of the name, not the moon, and there's plenty of precedent in the MCU for mythical beings having extraterrestrial origins. As for more than one place having the same name? Look at an atlas; it happens all the time!
Of course the real reason for all of this is that the source material is pulpy sci-fi comic books (which are never scientifically accurate at the best of times) from the 70's when the idea of people living on Titan wasn't so far outside of what was considered possible. So we're stuck with the name, but can't credibly use the real place anymore.
