Would it be wrong if Burnham never becomes a captain?

Nope. But it would be okay if she was Airlock inspector. ;)

I just hope Posey Parker isn't around to open said airlock.
Lol. Burnham is way too hard to shake off though! She'd cling to the side and probably make a few modifications to vessel while she was out there.

Essentially put them in competition with one another?
Burnham and Tilly? You mean professionally? How could that ever plausibly happen? Burnham is a Commander and Tilly, a cadet. A professional competition between those two would require some really "unusual" writing. This would not be good for the show.

Somehow I don't see Burnham becoming captain, at least not anytime soon. Though her record was expunged, she still turned on her captain and mother-figure... then got her killed. Nothing in the series would change this. She isn't even a first officer on the Discovery, and it doesn't seem like she was transferred to another ship...

She had to work to get her previous rank back in starfleet. I think she has a way to go before she has a shot at the chair again... at least on Discovery. She'd feel bad taking the seat from Seru.

I’d rather prefer that she didn’t make captain. Being captain of a Starship isn’t everything to everyone. You don’t have to be the captain to make a difference and her destiny could be elsewhere.

Well, it wasn't me who suggested it, but remember ST '09 where exactly that situation arises?

Well if Burnham went rogue like I suggested you could have her be a captain just not of a Starfleet ship. Just had a twisted idea for a season. Burnham goes rogue becomes a Captain of civilian ship. Discovery gets destroyed and many of the crew have to work for her on the civilian ship and for plot reasons they can't contact Starfleet. Basically you taking the idea that Chocatay asked Janeway in season 1 about what would have happend if "Voyager" got destroyed in the pilot and thus Starfleet crew would have to work on the Marquis ship and then kind of going with something like that for a season.

Yeah, I don't think they should make her captain. I think they'll probably keep pushing how much she is likely to be offered a command, but eventually, she'll be sucked into the world of section 31 instead...

Not that I think they should do that last part, or what would lead to it (probably some kind of manipulation from Georgiou), but it's what I'm expecting.

Either that or the aforementioned noble death.

She doesn't have to ever become captain.

This isn't Gotham where Bruce Wayne HAS to become Batman by the end. She's an OC and anything can happen.
