Felt a bit like Doctor Who in some points. I guess it's the story beats.
" I don't want to go"
End of the universe and some people have been erased. They aren't forgotten though
I hope Amy Pond can remember everyone
Because Odin also noted Thor used Mjölnir to channel his power and Thor said he needed a weapon to battle Thanos specifically. And another question . . . why does Thor have a new weapon, when "THOR: RAGNAROK" went out of its way to establish that he didn't need a weapon to channel his powers? And as the new Allfather of Asgard, shouldn't Thor be just as powerful as Thanos?
I'm guessing whoever died before the finger snap stays dead.Makes you wonder, are they going to bring characters back in the next film only to kill them off again? Who is actually dead permanently?
I imagine everyone who didn't die in this movie are likely candidates to meet a permanent end in the next one.
But Strange saw the future and there was only one outcome where they could win, not multiple so maybe going back in time made no difference.Strange had this time stone all this time; he didn’t have any qualms using it to go forward and see alternate futures. So why didn’t he just use it to go back to when Thanos originally got the gauntlet? Or before Star Lord screwed up and hit Thanos in anger? Or before Thanos got the power stone from Xandar? Or...

Aside from Gamora's death . . . I didn't quite get that. They actually made a genocidal madman as sympathetic as possible.
King of Asgard is ceremonial...and Asgard no longer exists. As Thor said, "Asgard is not a place. It never was. This could be Asgard. Asgard is where our people stand." Your claim that "he should be powerful enough" is simply you thinking he should be powerful, not based on any evidence in the films.Thor is now the King of Asgard . . . the Allfather. He should be powerful enough to face Thanos.
Unless . . . oh wait. Of course. I should have known.

The answer is:
because Strange saw a single future in which they beat Thanos. And I'm betting that achieving that victory means letting Thanos win here. There is no way that Strange put so much emphasis on his being willing to let Stark and Parker die if it protected the Time Stone and then promptly surrendered it when Tony's life was threatened. Strange is playing the long game. Giving up the stone is part of the path to whatever victory he saw.

Uh-huh. At this point, I think you just like to complain. How fucking convenient for Kevin Feige. Hela was powerful enough to destroy Thor's hammer on Earth. Odin's power was on display in the Frost Giants' realm. But while in the midst of the remaining Asgardians, Thor isn't powerful enough to face Thanos.
This franchise is becoming increasingly frustrating for me
Yeah I thought that shot did look pretty bad, and kinda took me out of that pivotel moment. War Machine looked really CG, it was clearly a green screen, and Banner in the Hulkbuster in particular looked unfinished. Mark Ruffalo's head was just stuck on to itThe only CGI that really didn't work for me was right at the end with Banner in the Hulkbuster armor - when the character was just standing there.
Also noticed how the timeline works normally again with this film (after the Homecoming debacle) It's been 2 years since Civil War (like in real life- 2016/18) and Iron Man said it was 6 years since New York (like in real life- 2012/18)
Ignoring that weird "8 years later" thing in Homecoming.
