I have no doubt Kruek was involved as well, and is now covering her ass. The truth will surface soon.
I hope not, but I don't know. It depends on how clear the line was between the "front" (the "empowerment group" with the meetings and dinners and whatever) and the inner circle with the weirdo sex slavery. I guess it would depend on people coming forward and saying Kreuk knew what was really going on, in which case she's in trouble, even if she wasn't in as deep as Allison Mack. Mack is in deep shit. I wonder if her lawyers will try for some sort of deal. Or if it will be 10 years in prison, out in 3 for good behavior and under psychiatric observation.
I doubt that simply knowing about what was going on would be considered a crime. Mack is charged because she actively recruited women for the cult (not just for Nexium), and participated in torture, imprisonment, etc. None of the charges are for "knowing" about the cult. According to a report I read this morning, Mack is working on a deal, which was predictable. I thought her defense would be that she was brainwashed by Raniere and had to do his bidding. She plead not guilty so I suppose she still might go with this defense if the deal falls through. But it seems like she has so much culpability, it's hard to see her not having to agree to some jail time as part of the deal.
I got say this is whole thing is really putting a crimp on the idea of Canada being the nicest place on Earth. Just when I thought the worst thing to ever happen to Canada was "Due South" being canned before it's time this ends up happening. Also I swear the cult leader might have once been a actor as well. They name sounds familiar even when I first heard about this. Or maybe I am just getting his name mixed up with Keith Rennie. Jason
What disturbing news! I've heard about the allegations against Mack only recently. I didn't know this incident dated back to last year. As for Kristin, in her defense, did she ever say, "I'm not a Kreuk"?
This guy must be one of the greatest speakers of all-time to pull off this scam. You got to do alot of compelling bullshitting to get people to buy into some of this crazy stuff. At what point does someone not connect the dot in their heads that sex slave and branding doesn't really match up with female empowerment and helping people overcome their shyness. Not only that but he is doing it with women who are successful in life or at least you assume have tons of money. Jason
No better than anyone else who ever started a cult. IMO, it's not so much about how good the leader is, it's about reaching out to enough people so that those susceptible to their particular brand of bullshit can be drawn in.
Yeah, it's not so much about the speaking ability or knowledge, so much as it is the gullibility and ignorance of those listening.
I don't know what Ms. Mack is or isn't guilty of, but I do know that, when they're dealing with a witness they'd like to flip, prosecutors tend to overcharge in order to improve their bargaining position.
I don't know about that because you would think he would worry about that getting into the public. I expect though we might find people's missing tweets and phone calls and stuff like that. Postings on message boards and maybe personal stories from fellow "Smallville" and "Battlestar Galatica" actors etc. Man, the poop will hit the fan if someone finds out he had access to any of the sets. Everyone from Ron Moore to Kripke( I think that is right) on "Smallville" can soon find themselves in the public eye for the reasons you don't want to be. Jason
He is accused of taking dirty pictures of the women for use as blackmail. It's not that much of a stretch to think he has video.
And people take video and pictures of their crimes and post it online, which gets them caught, every year.
I can assure you, Canada has much worse crimes happening than TV show's cancellation. Even this cult stuff, horrible though it is, is but the tip of the iceberg. Just last week there was an incident in Toronto where someone drove a van down a crowded sidewalk, killing and injuring many pedestrians.
TV stars Allison Mack and Nicki Clyne married on orders from 'cult' leader Keith Raniere, source says According to this they were married so that Canadian Nicki Clyne could stay in the US
