Same here. Love the overall look and style of it.Meh, I much prefer to look of Legacy over the original Tron.

It was an elected monarchy, not something she inherited. And how do Queens voluntarily give up their royaldom to begin with? Not that anyone cares about how the new Queen got there or anything...
And even if it was, it's called "abdication". Just ask Edward VIII.It was an elected monarchy, not something she inherited.

This is very true. I walked out of TPM, even at 15ish, feeling that way.The prequel's saving grace is that they're so dissimilar from the original trilogy I don't even think of them happening in the same universe or to the same characters.
The reason that I don't like (hate is too strong a word) the prequel trilogy is that there are very few surprises. Pretty much everything that happened in the prequel trilogy can be summed up in the conversation that Obi Wan has with Luke in ROTJ. Just a few lines of exposition expanded into three movies. The only real surprise I had was that the Clone Wars were Clone vs. Droid. I thought that they'd be clone versus clone.
What the prequel trilogy needed to do was to subvert the original trilogy. The Jedi were seen through rose tinted glasses by Obi Wan and Yoda.
I think a lot of people were surprised, and disappointed, that the Jedi forbade marriages (certainly goes against Obi-Wan's claim that he knew Anakin wanted his son to have his lightsaber and become a Jedi).
Obi-Wan also said that Darth Vader betrayed and murdered Anakin Skywalker.I think a lot of people were surprised, and disappointed, that the Jedi forbade marriages (certainly goes against Obi-Wan's claim that he knew Anakin wanted his son to have his lightsaber and become a Jedi).
For what it's worth, Vader appears to agree with that interpretation.Obi-Wan also said that Darth Vader betrayed and murdered Anakin Skywalker.

My biggest struggle is imply how much of a liar Obi-Wan really became after watching the PT. The Jedi go from the "guardians of peace and justice" to political pawns who manipulate their own to further their power.Obi-Wan was a liar. Then again, telling Luke he's the son of the most vile and hated man in the galaxy, probably would not have been for the best.

Yes, well, wasn't expecting the exact opposite of what Obi-Wan said. Also, really takes the thunder out of Luke becoming a Jedi because the Jedi were rather ineffectual."Everyone thinks they're righteous." --J. Whedon
He was the hero of his own story, I'm pretty sure he wasn't going to say the organization he pledged his life to were ineffectual puppets.

Jedi weren't all bad. They were just outflanked and didn't have the allies to support them in protecting the galaxy. The Republic senate was a lot worse and the Jedi had to work in that corrupt bureaucracy. A positive thing you can say about the Jedi is they never considered staging a coup to take power and insert their will. When they contemplated removing Palpatine from office, it was their intention to give that power back to the senate. Now, sure. All tyrants make that promise, but the Jedi weren't that dishonest and devious. If they had been, they would've seen the purge coming.Yes, well, wasn't expecting the exact opposite of what Obi-Wan said. Luke in TLJ was just an outgrowth of his experience in learning bout the Order in the PT.
Yes, the Jedi manipulating Anakin to spy on Palpatine "off the record" was totally "peace and justice."Well, you didn't get that.
That would have been the Sith.
They seem to be.I do wonder is the Jedi were an genuine arm of the Republic and not self-appointed "guardians of peace and justice" in the galaxy.

Everything feels different. Probably the poorest example of continuity between films in the same franchise I have literally ever seen.
