I read the Trek stuff carefully, and carry the MMPBs in a paperbag to transport them while reading. I remove the dustjacket from hardcovers until finished. I have been known to replace copies if a spine cracks, but all my Pocket stuff is first edition, first printing, so there is sobbing if one of them gets damaged.
I lent out a mint ST III novelization to several friends (the premiere was delayed by six months Down Under!) and it came back looking like a damp rag. I fell alsleep over one DS9 book and drooled on it, causing a section of pages to swell. Re-purchase necessary.
"Stargazer: Oblivion" drives me nuts. Every first printing has severe text-cropping issues, so I ended up buying the corrected second printing as well.
I'm not quite as far as that.As for storage I will put it on a shelf inside a press to keep it from getting dusty. I'd say most of them look unread, especially the hardbacks.
Putting them in the press kinda keeps my Trek fandom as part of my private life too if anyone visits.I'm not quite as far as that.
Mine do sit on the shelves up high. Well out of the reach of little children (more correct, grandchildren). They probably do collect a bit of dust but I stack them laying down not standing up. Fit better and keeps them better.
I try to keep them as good as possible.
Sometimes, when I give someone a book I’ve read, they ask ‘Have you really read this?’
Do they return the books? That's what I'm afraid of. Lending out a book and never getting it back. So I'm very careful about that.
My books are there to be read and enjoyed. Spines are cracked, pages are dog-eared where I couldn't find or improvise a bookmark and one or two even fell in the bath in those ancient pre-smartphone times.
Haven't had one fall in the bath but had one fall in water in what the Americans call the "bathroom".fell in the bath in those ancient pre-smartphone times.
Indeed I do agree, albeit a bit lateI cherish my books and treat them accordingly. Nevertheless there are some of them with cracked spines and worn and so on. Simply I have read them too often.
@Jinn will surely agree with me: Cross Cult has a very professional get-up as to the books themselves. Great paper as to the quality. Not to mention the covers......

Yeah, I kinda had to deal with some stuff, but I think I'll be more active in the next few months. I did keep up with the 2018 novels thread, so I've heard of the dire situation.I guess you have been busy as you weren't online as often as before lately. On the other hand, you hardly missed much here on the forum.....

Architects of Infinity was the biggest suprise for me. I pre-ordered it back in July... July of 2016, that is, and I had totally forgot that I did. I'm only a few chapters in, but I like it so far. For the cover, I'd love Conlon, but I'm not sure if CrossCult does book-only characters on Voyager covers.Architects of Infinity is refreshing at the moment. Looking forward to the Cross Cult version of it. Any guess who will be on the cover???? I received AoI from Amazon and it had creases on the cover. I don't like it with books I have ordered in a new condition. It looked like it was already read once.

That's what Post-It flags are for!I try to treat them pretty carefully, but while writing down timeline notes, sometimes I have to fold pages over. Sigh.
