Scruffy-looking untitled Han Solo film thread

From the look of things, the Falcon has an extra bit on her bow. Possibly an extra cargo bay....maybe Lando's cabin. But if you look carefully at the above view from the front, you can more or less see the separation line beween the main hull and this other piece. The new piece flairs into the central hull, which is slightly raised. I can see Han lowering it once the extra bit is gone. Probably for cargo running, but also to add more weapons and other modifications. The ship's mission tubes are in there, for example, plus larger flood lights.

The Falcon almost looks stock in this. Almost. I can imagine Lando made some modifications himself. Plus, in theory, this freighter is still older than that. I could see it being partly Lando's work that makes this thing one of the fastest ships in the galaxy, and Han's modifications that makes it the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy (the very heavily modified navi computer being the key I think, on top of Lando's sleek hyperdrive engine. Also it probably has a lot more thrust to weight ratio than it needs (supposedly for cargo hauling) and thus can kick it up to Starfighter speeds. Add in a hotshot pilot and you have the freighter that can dogfight in the Battle of Endor.

That trailer did not do anything fr me. Still planning on seeing it opening week end unless the reviews are really bad. Then I will wait for the home releases.

I think it looks decent. I'm still not sold on Ehrenreich as Solo, but the rest looks all good to me. I'll be watching it on the big screen regardless.

Whoever decided it was a good idea to slap in some generic modern techno-esque music on this trailer made a big error. Music is a big part of the atmosphere of the SW Universe. Without it, it feels much more generic and disposable.
That's trailer music. This is literally happening with almost every trailer now, largely because trailers are assembled by third parties, not the production company.

The music will not be reflective of what is in the film.

The first trailer for Star Trek Beyond was absolute garbage. We got a pretty good Trek film out of it. I've learned that movie trailers rarely reflect the quality or lack thereof of any film in any genre.

Only the film itself can truly tell you if it's any good.

Now I kind of want that to happen, simply for the nerdrage. Is that cruel of me?

Jjust a teeny bit. I feel that way sometimes as well.

for me it's his voice. It's higher than Ford's so he feels off for me for that reason. It probably won't bother me much after a few miuntes unless the movie is just really bad.

This is very similar to Pine replacing Shatner, in my book. The two are sufficiently different that, barring the younger imitating the older, there may never be the sense that they're the "same" character.

Also, I gotta be honest: I'm simply not enough or a Wars fan to really be that interested in what happened to Han outside the OT and TFA. I'll go see the movie, but I get the bad feeling that the stand-alone films just won't keep the magic going for me.

I'm glad it's not just me.

Yeah, that actually bothers me a little, too, but I figure it won't be that big of a deal once I'm buried in the film.

Whereas I feel the opposite in the same position. I'm not a huge fan of Star Wars (I enjoy the hell out of watching them, but that's it) so I'm less concerned about continuity with the other films and I'm more interested in having fun watching the film. Based on the trailer, I think I will.

Obi-wan Kenobi....venerable member of the Red Eye Nights. They are always on the High ground.

Though I wonder how many years of Han Solo's life we will see in this film. There will of course be his introduction to Lando, and the Falcon. More that likely his meeting with Chewie. Perhaps him being an Imperial officer for a time. And probably the Kessel Run. Though those things don't all have to be on the same mission or direct narrative. They could pick back up again in time (Like Han remembering the stuff he's done. Telling a story to young Ben or Rey even.)

I feel like Alden should have played Han's son in the Episode films instead, and we should have gotten rogue-ish cowboys in space narrative, with Alden as the hero. Star Wars is better and more engaging as a dirty space western than a religious 'chosen one' storyline.

Unfortunately Alden doesn't work as a younger very of Harrison Ford. They lack of resemblance between them is jarring.

The trailers are really giving me a Star Trek (2009) vibe, which is hilarious since Chris Pine said he played his Kirk with more than a little of Harrison Ford's Han Solo in it.

If it's like other Star Wars films it will all happen in a brief almost-realtime window, which will then give it the same vibe of being an overly compressed series of coincidences and contrivances.

it definitely takes place over an extended time period, we just don't know exactly how long. Clearly, Han meets Qi'ra that have some dealings then they go their separate ways for a while. I'm thinking the Imperial Academy and Chewie happen in that gap. Qi'ra gets successful in the meantime, then Han meets up with her again and the Heist/Lando/Woody Harrelson section of the film happens. A couple years at least.
