Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

^ Since I seem to remember you slagging off Amy Adams as basically a no-talent, Levi should probably take your scorn as a high compliment.

The woman with one facial expression and one monotone style of acting is still probably better then Levi. At the very least, I have never seen her lash out when people call her stuff crap. So, she's seemingly less insecure, then Levi. Also, she's a bad actor, but she's bland bad. Technically a better actor better then, say, Eisenberg or Leto, but in a boring way. So she'd definitely be better then Levi, which isn't difficult because Chuck was pretty atrocious and most d-list sitcom actors are better at acting then Levi.

I would disagree...definitely not Sam Rockwell or Tatiana Maslany level good...but definitely a good fit for a Lois Lane that was tough and determined and also smart and compassionate (waaaaaay above the Margot Kidder version)

I realized recently -- somewhat to my own surprise, and despite the DCEU's many failings -- that Adams may well be my favorite Lois ever.

Mine as well, mainly for not being a nutbag like the Kidder version was (I'm NOT saying this is due to Kidder, it was due to the writing!) and for not beating around the bush like all the other Lois' did.

^ Not in the alternate "Donner Cut" of the film that Christopher references. If you haven't seen it, you should check it out; it's a significantly different version of the narrative, and a superior one in many if not most respects.

(And I expect Christopher along to repeat this information any second, since I'm pretty sure he has me on ignore. :( )

The Donner Cut of Superman 2 is kind of an interesting curiosity or DVD bonus feature, but little else (Lester's version is better as a movie and it isn't even close).

There's also a great deal of question regarding just how involved Donner actually was with "his cut."

Of course it's only a rough approximation of what we could've gotten, more an effort at historical reconstruction than anything else, but it's still markedly better than the final film in many ways -- especially in its treatment of Lois, who has much more intelligence and agency in the Donner version.

Respectfully disagree, noble sir.

Am aware there is some controversy about this, which is why I put "Donner Cut" in quotes.

Having seen both versions (and owning both on DVD), there is little reason to watch the Lester cut if you're looking for a good Superman movie. If you want to see the moment the original Superman movie series died, or just want to watch a B-movie with a lot of issues but still just good enough to be ok, then the Lester cut is worth watching. Otherwise the Donner cut is the superior version and its the last solid Superman movie (in live action, at least) in my opinion.

I agree! Donner tried to take the subject matter seriously while Lester was of the opinion that nobody wants a serious superhero movie.

Even the Donner version had its problems, like relying on that "spin the world backwards to undo everything" plot device again.

That was the original intended ending for Superman 2. Edits shoehorned it into the original. Both movies were NOT supposed to have the same ending.

Oh yeah, it had problems. but, to be fair, there was no avoiding that. The spin backwards ending was supposed to be the ending of Superman II, not one, and anyway its still better then that creepy (and mind violating) mind erasing kiss in my opinion. In the end, the Donner cut is the best it can be, but it has problems for obvious reasons based on what it has to work with.

Had they finished Donner's Superman 2 cut, it's very possible that we wouldn't have had to wait till '88 for the end of the belief that superhero movies had to be goofy and campy (though the '88 batman is pretty goofy and campy itself I suppose)

Spinning the world backwards to undo the whole movie IS still goofy and campy...
