Welcome to the new SF&F Avatar Contest! Our theme this time out is a simple one: images from any science fiction or fantasy movie or TV show that is based on or adapted from a book. For the purposes of this contest, let's stick with prose stories (novels, novellas or short stories are all OK), since graphic novels/comics could be a theme of their own.

The rules:

• Maximum size of 200 x 200 pixels, and 1 MB
• Please identify what movie or TV show your image is from
• We'll start with one entry each for now, but may go to two later depending on how many entries we get

It's from the 2011 movie. One of the few good things about the movie.

Actually, that's not fair. There were a lot of good things about the movie, including a really good cast and designs at least on par with the 1983 version. But the bad script, bad CGI, mediocre score, a studio that didn't know what it wanted (make it completely independent from the 1983 version, but put a shallower version of the same revenge story at the center), and just the wrong director for this project.

But I wanted something Conan-related that was actually taken from Robert E. Howard himself, and there's very little of that in any Conan adaptation. It was either this, or the crucified Conan biting a vulture to death from the 1983 version.
