My entry for the March 2018 challenge (WIP) Going for the "shuttlepod-to-robot" approach . References: Building this in a game-engine on Xbox one. Trying to keep this simple, so far so good. The Type 15 shuttle pod are a great startingpoint for a transformer. Going to make the final transition-animations really choppy and old-school, not "smooth" like this, but it is a start. Things to do: Make shuttle pod (check (kinda)) Make robot () Get frustrated and start all over again () Make choppy transition animation () Build environment () Play with lights, cameras, sound etc () Make thing's waayy to complicated () Get frustrated and start all over again... I should named this thread "pl1ng's art challenge WIP thread" but I forgot to add my name in the title...
Nice! I seem to remember G1 Jazz having a shuttlecraft-like Cybertronian mode. Of course, that mode made no sense with his unchanged robot mode.....
Update Building the robot, only added 6 element's which can be easily implemented to the shuttlepod, or placed inside, so this version could work. This bouncy ride is bound to make you seasick=) Next Make another version Animate transition.
--- Edit: Made the transition stages, Planning out a possible animation.... Edit 2: File under Fail-test, got some valuable animation practice tho Also... no humour! I shoulda made the robot trip at that edge and smashed into the landing platform and exploded... maby next test
Would really love to have the skills and time to make a lovely little short-film of a sad little Trek-Bot, but that have to wait until an art-challenge in 2020 =) So instead I made something ridiculous and crazy... This is a possible entry if I can't come up with something better: Runtime 1:46 (fasten your seatbelt and turn up the volume) Editor-gif
I had an idea which sounded pretty funny in my head... totally possible it doesn't work tho, or that I don't have the time to finish it=) this is around the middle part and just a short half-finished test.. Title: (that's the most funny part) I can fly, I can fly, I can.... Edit 1 Just gonna check something Edit 2 Aha ok...

Ye so I tried my hands on stop-motion... that was pretty time consuming but I had a ton of fun while doing it. The result is not very good but I learned a lot, it was a lot of guesswork... Where is the "star-trek"? You may ask and I can't blame you. The "shuttlepod" is very loosely inspired by a klingon ship, (the small peacock ones in discovery) Some still images in VGA colour rendering Probably going to enter a combination of two pictures, one from each stage. Edit: Final entry...
Oh, that poor little shuttlepod! I know I said I wanted to see more, but I feel sorry for it now Your stop-motion Klingon shuttle is cool. It reminds me (the stop-motion, not the shuttle) very much of a couple of old kids shows from the 70s: Bagpuss and the Clangers.
I had to Google Bagpuss and the Clangers, and then... YES! I do remember them! That was a long time ago, we called them "romlimgane" where I come from. I absolutely have memories from the strange sounds and the dragon on the moon, HAHA
I was going to link to them, but couldn't be bothered - sorry. The Clangers (or Romlimgane - I take it you're from Norway?) unnerved me a little when I was young - it was those strange sounds that did it!
Yeah Norwegian here! Those sounds....! Scary stuff! (Adding a bonus-picture with this reply because.. art-thread ...)
