Who would be in favor of that? It could even be in it's own separate continuity with no mention of where or when it is. Disco is obviously a continuation of Enterprise which was in my mind an alternate reality caused by the Borg in that Borg TNG movie retroactively. A fresh take on a post TOS show could be what is needed full on.

Unless they got Sir Patrick back on to reprise his role as Picard then there would be no saving a rehash of TNG.
I don't think they should, No. There would be like a 2% chance of it being pulled off well IMO.
Though I do understand what you mean, would be neat to see the show re-done with modern technology. The newer movies and shows do look pretty good (regardless of the overall quality). I am hoping to see another series set sometime along where DS9 or VOY end, to see the more original type of trek just all in HD glory lol.

Let's have a series with Captain Rachel Garrett and the Enterprise-C. That could be re-imagined so that it didn't end the same for her. Valor yes, death no. It could even have the original version of the ship, the way it was before they had to cut the production cost:

Or influenced by TNG instead of using the name TNG and having stories, concept, and motivations be completely alien (pardon the unintended pun) to TNG's premise. Just make a separate show if they want to alter origins and backstory. If the story and characters are good, then it becomes what TNG did on its own: Become its own self (despite needing a year or two to fully find itself, it does show that time and investment can pay off.)
After all, TNG was influenced by TOS (but didn't erase or pretend the past never happened). TOS was influenced by westerns. "Star Wars" was influenced by Samurai films, neither franchise hijacked someone else's name - they innovated. I know that's not easy to do, but wow...

I was thinking more along the lines of a Kelvin Universe TOS. It's likely that
Chris Pine won't be interested but we could do it with a lookalike TV actor instead.
