How pedantic is it to expect... Discovery to be about... discovery![]()
It is about Discovery. The USS Discovery.

Um... there is that. Here's a war. Oh no, wait, here's a mirror Universe. Oh no, wait, here's the war again. Ah, fuck it, season's over anyway. Here's the Enterprise!
It's a show without direction (but with like 20 executive producers and show-runners) stumbling from one gimmick to another.
I know what you mean The Search for Spock title and tagline should really have been:Search for Spock wasn't really a search.
And the adventure continues.I know what you mean The Search for Spock title and tagline should really have been:
Star Trek III
We Found Spock!
We Weren't Even Looking For Him.
Or
Star Trek III
That Klingon Bastard Killed my Son!
Not That I Knew Him That Well Anyway.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wrath of Khan could be:
Star Trek II
We Should Have Killed Him The First Time!
Wont Make That Mistake Again.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Motion Picture could have been:
Star Trek
FFS Kirk Took My Ship!
Screw You Guys I'm Going Home.
Or
Star Trek
My Girlfriend Is Completely Bald!
Possibly A Relation To One Punch Man, A Carbon Based Unit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
People would have flocked to see them.![]()
I find myself disappointed as of the first season. I bet the second season opener has pike in a blue uniform...
Then tell me, what is the deeper meaning behind Cheers, Veronica Mars, Murphy Brown, Everwood, The O.C. and Melrose Place? And I want explanations for ALL those examples.ALL those examples have had a deeper meaning for their respective shows' name other than "we just picked a random name".
NCIS, MacGyver, The Dick van Dyke Show? The name of a thing (especially in art) always carries a deeper meaning of the subject.

Not every name has a deeper meaning, come on.
I'm pretty sure the name of the series is due to the fact that the hero ship is called "USS Discovery."
It is just a name.
The story is what happened on the starship Discovery, hence the title they went with.
It is about Discovery. The USS Discovery.
It's a science vessel, seems a reasonable name to me. Especially given its history as a spacefaring vessel.
This. Just to reiterate. It is about Discovery. The USS Discovery.
Hey, let's not let facts get in the way of this pedantic argument over a show's title. If spore drive were able to work without being dependent on a sentient being to operate it, Discovery would have the potential to discover more than anything else in the Fleet with its Spore Drive.
