Jennifer Lien in trouble again?

Erin Moran died of throat cancer. Neither illegal drugs nor alcohol were involved as the cause of death. Just what similarities are people imagining? :wtf:
In that case I apologize for my mistake and withdraw my comment about similarities.

A daily newspaper in my area had an article about her in which her death was described as a result of long time alcohol abuse. A bad source actually. My mistake.

I wasn't that familiar with the actress and the series so I just read it and saw it as another sad example of a talent with misfortune.

Or maybe it still would have gone this way if she didn't leave the show.

Who's to say that leaving the show was the cause of these issues, or maybe she had personal issues (that may not have manifested themselves so publicly) even prior to joining the cast. Jennifer Lien has had a life full of experiences that made her who she is. It seems a little simplistic for us to think that the one thing that we publicly know about her is the cause of her problems.

Blaming Voyager for her personal issues may be a case of the logical fallacy "Post hoc ergo propter hoc"

This reminds me of how people blame Stanley Kubrick for Shelly Duvall's mental health issues 30 years after she did "The Shining".

Kes reminds me of 7 y/o daughter. I love the way Lien conveyed that Kes was very young, yet had an old soul. She didn't ever portray being a child-like woman in a fetish-exploiting way. Her character contains a lot of what I think of as "Trek".

I think that being fired from Voyager for no reason at all after doing a great job for three years was a severe dissapointment for Jennifer. It might have contributed to her bad mental health in the long run.

Kes personified the spirit of Star Trek with her wish to learn and explore.
A spirit which dissapeared from Voyager when she was dumped. :weep:

Oh for sure. I mean, being fired from a major TV show of course isn't a positive thing. However, there has to be something going on there in the first place, and there may have been external factors involved that accelerated things.

Yes, like being fired from Voyager after three years of excellent work.

A sensitive person might crack under strain and being fired from Voyager might have been the final straw.

I was in the same situation once, being fired from a job I really liked so I know how it feels. But I'm to mean and aggressive to crack under such strain. :)

However, what set off the recent events is hard to understand since Jennifer did seem to have a good life back in 2010.

It's clear she is suffering from mental health issues and that picture suggests consequential substance abuse problems. Very sad, but I guess it can happen to us all.

Lynx, I think there is something else going on there. I mean, I don't have ironclad 100% proof, because I am neither in her life nor her physician, etc. It just appears to me that there was something else involved that caused her to slide as hard as she has. I have my suspicions, but I will leave it at that.

Holy moley - I just looked at her pic in the article., and she's only 43. She needs help and isn't getting it.
