Just wait for the next reissue of Final Frontier when they edit SMG in over sybok and change a couple of spocks lines.
FWIW, Michael and Spock try to mend their relationship in May 2255 during a life-or-death mission (DSC novel: Desperate Hours).
Sarek: I love my son, I love my wife and....I love... Michael! Picard: Whoa, too much information, you old Vulcan pervert* *dialogue not at all based on the views of this poster but on the way Trek decided to (not) handle homosexuality in the 80s and 90s
One more time: Spock never mentioned pon farr until he had to. Spock never mentioned that he had a fiancee/wife. Spock never mentioned that his father was the Vulcan ambassador. Spock never mentioned that he had a brother. Spock never mentioned that his katra had to be returned to Vulcan if he died . . . But somehow it defies logic and canon that he never mentioned his foster sister? Spock has never been forthcoming about his family and personal life. In this respect, DISCO is 100% consistent with canon.
Yep, I'm pretty sure until the crew found out about Sarek and Amanda, they all just assumed Spock hatched from an egg fully grown. The dude was private yo.
Yep. When Burnham started telling Ash exactly how her parents died, I was like "Hey! I know this already! This was in Dave's book!" Meanwhile, let it be noted that STAR TREK is also down with Ambassador-Sparkly Energy Cloud love.
TNG is probably more of a stumbling block to Michael that TOS is, just because Sarek should have mentioned her. (Of course he doesn't mention Sybok either and all of Sarek's TNG appearances post-date The Final Frontier.) How many times did Spock mention his parents by name other than the episode they were in? Does he mention them ever in season three? Does he talk about T'pring outside of a single episode? Kirk meets Sarek twice in The Search for Spock and nobody mentions Amanda once. The interesting thing about watching Sarek in Discovery is the realization that we only saw him eight times (plus TFF). And most of those times it was more about plot than any character building for him. He's a blank slate.
If it was the first time it happened, it wouldn't be a big deal. But, I bet Pocket would laugh at someone who submitted a story with Spock having another secret sibling after Sybok.
I'm going to go on the assumption that Jimmy and Micheal will eventually hook-up, only for things to fizzle out. Spock never talks about her around his friend because ... awkward. Then why do you read Trek Lit?
