Spoilers What happens to Qo'nos in the Season Finale - A Theory

My theory for the season finale is that Qo'nos gets blown up or devastated, leaving the Klingons unable to further wage the war against the Feds. They either need to rebuild and terraform the Planet or find themselves another Capital, which they will also call Qo'nos. The hatred against the Federation helps the houses to unite under a single flag again.

In the time between Discovery and TOS they build up their forces until they are ready for another war against the Federation in "Errand of Mercy".

My theory explains, why the Intervention of the Organians was necessary to stop the war from happening and why the Organians never bothered to prevent another war like the war against the Klingons in the alternate timeline of "Yesterday's Enterprise" or the Dominion War: The Klingons were angry as f... over what happened to Qo'nos and the war might have destroyed the entire alpha and beta quadrants.

Clues for my theory might be the destruction of Qo'nos in the Mirror Universe and the differences between what Qo'nos looked like during Enterprise and later in TNG.

It's really kind of pointless to try to make this show fit with previous Trek. The producers are paying lip service to that and nothing more.

Great theory. And from the previews, I think what are you saying can be right all along.

One problem (and I know consistency is a major problem in DISCO universe): If Qo'nos is completely destroyed by "Captain"/Mirror Georgiou's attack, how come latter day Klingons like Kor, Worf, Martok, even the Duras Sisters, never mention this catastrophic event in their dialogues in TOS, TNG, DS9, etc?

Perhaps the destruction will happen, but Discovery later fixed everything by jumping back nine months earlier to prevent the war to occur in the first place? We'll see.

I don't think the Organians would care about Klingons, Feds or war. It takes massive irritating before they can be bothered to shoo Kirk and Kor off their lawn, and we never hear of them afterwards. Organians just don't stop wars as a rule - and nobody else does, either, which is why wars do happen, most of the time.

I don't think there are "differences" to mind in the various portrayals of Qo'noS, either. It's a big planet, with vaguely greenish clouds as seen from above. Down on the surface, there's room for everything we have seen so far, and almost infinitely more.

But as far as the destroying of planets goes, how can the Emperor up the ante here? Klingons already have demonstrated they can destroy planets (they used the atmosphere-torching trick already familiar to the audience from TNG "The Chase", even if on a lesser planet). Is the Emperor planning for something even more spectacular, or merely wanting to target a major homeworld for a change?

Might be Qo'noS here is especially vulnerable to planetbusting attack, what with being the Planet of Caves and all. I just don't see the dramatic or plotwise need for actually blowing her to bits - it would be more than the Klingons have done so far, yes, but rather pointlessly more.

Another thing my theory could help to explain is the appearance of the Augment Klingons in TOS. Maybe they became much more influent after what happened with Qo'nos and/or the new (temporary?) capital planet was part of the territory of a House strongly affected by the Augment Virus.

FWIW I don't think Qo'Nos gets destroyed. Yes the Klingons will take a hell of a beating but not destroying their homeworld will show them that Starfleet has honour.

I think the Emperor will *plan* destruction but is bumped off before she gets the chance to do so. I really don't think Canon survives with some 'new' Qo'Nos.

I doubt that it is Qu'Nos getting destroyed. It's must likely a Klinglon highly production planet that is being destroyed.

I can see some version of this happening. Discovery doing something, screwing it up, and f***ing up the environment there somehow. Something that would keep the Klingons busy for a long while. I do feel like there is some twist coming, something none of us are seeing. Can't figure out what it may be.

yeah blowing everything up is the final solution... i think the planet that is blown up in the preview, will be the spore-planet, not qo´nos. Limited amount of spores so the technology is going to be obsolete. They can do a few jumps in the future seasons but then... warp is #1

Since they have established that they have the ability to time travel, and they've replenished their supply of spores, at this point the writers have given themselves carte blanche to go to any extreme they choose.

I think they will destroy it and then bring it back with a reset. Anyway, it will always be Kronos to me.

It's Beta Y that gets destroyed. The Betazoids have trouble maintaining a homeworld.

The idea that any race - let alone the Klingons - would ever forgive the Federation for destroying their homeworld and nearly genociding their race is ridiculous. Not to mention as others have said, nothing of this has ever been mentioned in later shows.

My little theory is they plant a bomb on Praxis to disrupt Klingon energy generation but for whatever reason it doesn't go off... until about 30 years later when Captain Sulu and the Excelsior get caught in the shockwave.

To be fair if previous creators 'had respect for canon', the Klingons would still look like white actors in brown face. If Mr Gene Roddenberry can tear up the Klingon look and rewrite it then anything is possible.
Personally I think a devastating war with the Klingons that future Starfleet personnel don't even mention stretches my suspension of disbelief a bit, but then who discusses the Xindi war in the future, which destroyed 7 million people? No one does.

I wonder if Georgio "sets the charges" for the planet to blow, and the Klingons have to unite to stop it. In the end, one of the Federation crew (Tyler?) ends up sacrificing themselves to stop it from blowing up, saving the planet and the Klingons are impressed by human honour or something less devastating or time travel-y.

Trailers are typically an exercise in bait-and-switch advertising. It's still entertaining to see people take them as gospel truth, though.

IMHO, visual retcons are not the same thing as continuity errors. The former are permissible, because we're very clearly seeing a representation of what is happening in the Trekverse, not what is actually happening (otherwise lips wouldn't sync up with the universal translator, for instance).

Personally I think a devastating war with the Klingons that future Starfleet personnel don't even mention stretches my suspension of disbelief a bit, but then who discusses the Xindi war in the future, which destroyed 7 million people? No one does.

Eh, I dunno. Destroying part of Florida and then never mentioning it again is certainly bad, but we're talking about something on the order of 1000 times more casualties if Qo'noS is destroyed.
