i see some misaligned windows on the right hand side of the saucer.

but damn this looks good.
 Words cannot express...

I got my glow-in-the-dark Connie Defiant today. Apart from the yellow Bussard collectors, it looks pretty good. Compared to my Connie Enterprise, they clearly used some different material in making this, probably something to do with being able to make it glow. The texture of the saucer doesn't feel as smooth as the Enterprise. It's not really dark enough yet to judge how it glows, and I think it may need to be "charged" a bit first.

Other than that, it looks pretty good. It's a huge improvement over the hideous Connie Defiant that Johnny Lighting made back in the day.

Definitely. To make it glow all around, I advise placing it under a strong light source and turn it as needed every few minutes, so that each area glows.
A trick I’m using is, wrapping it in a Christmas lights tube. Or, you place it on a glass table and have lights and flashlights point at it from all directions.

Tbh, I still like the Johnny Lightning Defiant, mainly because it’s the only classic Connie that is white (rather than grey or cream). But I like playing with both. Xx

I remember Ben Robinson mentioning that finding the right paint to make the model glow in the dark, yet maintain its proper look in the daylight was an extreme challenge. I've never seen a model quite like that one. Usually, when something is GITD, the whole thing is this bright yellow-green with no paint (like the old AMT Leif Ericson kit). They did something to this one that makes it look good no matter what, and it's genius! It's also probably sending out a couple thousand rads, so you probably want to wear lead gloves when you hold it. :D

I got mine to dimly glow for about three minutes after exposing it to light all day. Nice model, but the glow-in-the-dark feature is poor.

It needs a full-level light source pointed at it to charge, like a desk light, smartphone flashlight - or a privately-owned UV light.

Only downside I noticed, it doesn’t last long.

It was a desk lamp I left it under. It's a nice model, just the glow-in-the-dark feature is disappointing.

The color may be good, but the saucer is too flat, the deflector sticks out way to much, and the registry number on the hull is way too think. Presumably the same is true for the Connie Enterprise and Excalibur they made.

Actually, I like the eggshell color of the Eaglemoss Connies.

I still think JL did a better job on Voyager than Eaglemoss did.

On another note, I don't normally get another ship so soon after getting one, but I had some money, so I popped into my local store (after missing not one but two buses to get there, but that's another story), and ended up getting the Klingon BoP with the attack wings. I think this looks MUCH better than the flat wing formation (though the store owner disagrees with me on that). I actually bought the Furuta model on eBay a year or two ago because I wanted one that looked right (the Furuta model is pretty close in scale, and while it's certainly not the same level of quality, it's also much less fragile).

Look at the "flat" wing formation, it's clear the wings on the new one are shorter, but still looks good and takes up much less space on the shelf. The only real downside is that the one I got has a bent disruptor. There were two copies at the store, and maybe I picked the wrong one (although maybe the other would've been bent too). I'm kind of nervous about trying to fix it because that seems like just the kind of little thing that's waiting to snap off. Any advice?

That UFP logo isn't quite the one from Diacovery. I wonder if they changed it after Karen Dick was unhappy about the use of the one so similar to her father's in the old Star Fleet Technical Manual?

That's probably the exact reason why it's different. :)

That's a whole entirely new design I don't think I've ever seen before. They should have used something from TOS instead of coming up with something completely new like that. But hell, they've changed damn near everything else, why not that too?

Wife says my Shezhou was delivered about 10 minutes ago. So tempted to leave work early
folks on twitter and the FB fan group are also reporting receiving theirs today. did your tracking indicate it would be such a short delivery window?

also: pics.

I never really liked the FJ 'faces' one, that looks pretty good to me!

Received the Probert-C magazine yesterday. Really enjoyed reading this one and I suppose it definitively puts to rest the "color controversy" of the E-D.

My Shenzhou has arrived! I literally just got done unpacking it and reading the magazine. Very nice piece.
Lots of interesting facts about the design and the influences. I can't wait to get my Discovery, though.
