Except this is more than Vulcan being conquered. The entire Federation is conquered and Starfleet is gone. This is the kind of thing that would take decades to recover from. I never once got the impression TOS was about a Federation recovering from such a thorough and recent ass kicking.
No it doesn’t, that map is only the beta quadrantBut the tactical map showed Klingon Trefoils over the entirety of Federation space.
Because Star Trek has never gotten that consistentDialogue said Alpha Quadrant.
It still does. And the words next week only say 20% not the entire federationI'm still going with The Words Spoken Onscreen. Apparently that counted for something last week.
Why aren’t you talking about this in the actual review thread? Which is the correct topicThat's next week. That's not canon yet.
That's your comeback?

Does anyone still think this is the Prime Universe after watching tonight's episode?
It DOESN'T look like it's from the future. AT ALL. It looks like it's from the 60s. You know why? Because it's from the 60s! We KNOW it's from the 60s. Those outfits would not be out of place in Austin Powers The Spy Who Shagged Me. Discovery is looking forward at the future from NOW. Not 1967. And there is not one thing about Star Trek that doesn't scream 1967. Because that is when it was made. It helped to DEFINE the decade.
People who think Discovery could have legitimately gotten away with a 60s-inspired aesthetic are living in a fantasyland of their own making, and since visuals don't actually matter, trying to use the lack of a 60s aesthetic as a knock against the series falls apart pretty quickly.

To a point. But certain things just look like the time they were made in, and no other. TOS is a great example of this.Fashion is cyclical
I’m not so sure about that.
