Which Star Wars movies have you seen in theaters and how many times?

^ Only 3 if you count the TCW film.

I thought those were 'TV movies'. They were actually shown in theaters?

AFAIK, they were made for American tv but got cinema releases in europe. They were shown in Belfast but not the 2-screen cinema in the town where I grew up.

I have seen all the live-action ones in the cinema - Special Editions only for the OT. I didn't see the Clone Wars cartoon one at the cinema.

All only once in the cinema, except for the original "Star Wars"/Episode IV which I saw three times.

Star Wars: I was...present in 1977 for one showing (I was born two days later)
Empire Strikes Back, one showing (one of the rereleases just before Return of the Jedi came out)
Return of the Jedi, one showing.
A New Hope (Special Edition) one and a half showing (the first time the film broke)
Empire Strike Back (Special Edition), one showing
Return of the Jedi (Special Edition), one showing
The Phantom Menace, two showings.
Attack of the Clones, two showings.
Revenge of the Sith, two showings.
The Force Awakens, one showing (we got sick and couldn't get back to the theater again before it was out)
Rogue One, two showings
The Last Jedi, two showings, with the second being today.

I think there might have been one of the PT films I saw three times in the theater, but I don't remember which film it was.

Last edited:
Phantom Menace through The Last Jedi.

Phantom Menace more times than I can count.

Attack of the Clones, The Force Awakens, Rogue One and the Last Jedi....once.

Revenge of the Sith, five.

1997 rerelease- once each(I think)

Prequels- once, twice? I don't remember. I saw all three in theater, at least once.

Episode 7- Once

I saw Rogue One on Netflix Streaming.

Force Awakens

Star Wars: Special Edtion -- once
Empire: Special edition -- once
Phantom Menace -- once
Attack of the Clones -- once
Revenge of the Sith -- once
Force Awakens -- once
Last Jedi -- once

I saw one of the special editions in theaters. I think it was ANH, but I honestly can't remember.
I saw an early screening of Revenge of the Sith.
And I saw the Force Awakens and the Last Jedi, once each.

The Original 3 when they were released at the cinemas (1977, 1980 and 1983), then when the special editions came out then it was onto the prequels then the most recent 3.

But each was only a single cinema viewing.

I saw the Ewok movie in my living room.

I had no idea what was happening, but it was awesome!

I was born 6 months after Jedi came out. I saw all of the OT in Special Edition once in the theater.

I saw Phantom Menace twice in the theater.

I saw Attack of the Clones five times in the theater but now it is my least favorite.

I saw Revenge of the Sith once in the theater.

I saw ForcevAwakens two or three times in the theater.

I saw Last Jedi once so far but plan to see it again.

I'e seen phantom menace maybe a dozen times total. Attack of the Clones maybe a dozen. Revenge of the Sith twice.

A New Hope a few dozen times, Empire Strikes Back the same and Jedi a few more times than the others.

Force Awakens three times.

Each of the Special Editions once. (Maybe twice? I've seen them and the original unaltered movies so often at home that it's hard to remember.)

TPM: Three or four times.

AOTC: Seven times.

ROTS: Once.

TFA: Once.

R1: Three times.

TLJ: Three times.

Let's see.

All the below, just once at the cinema.

Star Wars & Empire (Double bill in 1980)
Return of the Jedi
Star Wars (Special Edition)
Empire (Special Edition)
Return of the Jedi (Special)
Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Force Awakens
Rogue One
Last Jedi.

(I didn't see Clone Wars or any of the Ewok films at the cinema - though like @DeepSpaceYorks, I do remember the Ewok films being on at the cinema near us in the UK) so I think that's about it.

Embarrassing:

IV = 0
V = 0
VI = 1
I = 1
II = 0.5 (slept through it)
III = 0
VII = 1
Rogue One = 0
VIII = 1 (haven't had a chance to see it again :( )

I've seen all the movies in the theater. I can't remember how many times for SW and ESB, but I will hazard a guess and say at least twice each. As for the others, after consulting my wall calendars from years gone by I have these stats for first-run cinematic viewings:

ROTJ - 3 times (not including Special Edition)
TPM - 3 times
AOTC - 1 time
ROTS - 1 time
TFA - 3 times
R1 - 2 times
TLJ - 2 times

What say you?

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope Special Edition (1997) - One time
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition (1997) - One time
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi Special Edition (1997) - One time
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) - Twice
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) - Once
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) - Once
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) - 3 times
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) - Twice
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) - Once
