Which Star Wars movies have you seen in theaters and how many times?

I can't count the number of times I've seen the OT on video (VHS, DVD, BluRay). I've only seen the PT a handful of times on video. I've watched TFA twice on video and RO once.

Here's the number of times I've seen the movies in the theater. I was too young for ANH to see it in 1977 and my parents were never SW fans, but I was old enough in 1980 to know about ESB beg my parents to take me to the theater. :)

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) - Never
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) - One time
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) - One time
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope Special Edition (1997) - One time
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back Special Edition (1997) - One time
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi Special Edition (1997) - One time
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999) - Two times
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) - One time
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005) - One time
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) - Four times
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) - Two times
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) - One time

All numbers are across multiple releases, Special Editions, and in the case of The Phantom Menace the 3D re-release.

Star Wars - 10
Empire Strikes Back - 8
Return of the Jedi - 8
The Phantom Menace - 11
Attack of the Clones - 2
Revenge of the Sith - 5
The Clone Wars - 1
The Force Awakens - 11
Rogue One - 5
The Last Jedi - 1

The viewing numbers do not line up with my ranking of the movies.

I've seen the first six in the cinema at least once even though I was born a few months after Return of the Jedi and could probably say at which cinema too. I've seen the Rogue and Last Jedi twice and Awakens three times.

I was born in 1985, so I missed out on the initial run of IV, V, and VI (my mom was seventeen in '77, though, and was a massive fan). So, of the American theatrical releases in my lifetime:

1997: Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (Special Edition - 1 viewing)
1997: Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (Special Edition - 0 viewings)
1997: Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (Special Edition - 0 viewings)
1999: Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (3 viewings)
2002: Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (3 viewings)
2005: Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (3 viewings)
2008: Star Wars: The Clone Wars (1 viewing)
2012: Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (3D - 0 viewings)
2015: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (3 viewings)
2016: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (4 viewings)
2017: Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (3 viewings)

I grew up poor, and we rarely went to the actual movie theater, so when the Special Editions came out my parents made us choose which one we wanted to see. I prayed that all three would come to the discount drive-in we frequented, but to no avail.

I don't know why I missed the 3D release of The Phantom Menace. I love that movie, it's still a disappointment. The 3D versions of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith were only shown at Celebration, which I've yet to attend.

ESB was my first Star Wars movie I saw in a theater, I was 6. Saw them all, minus Phantom Menace 3D. I distinctly remember my friend closing his eyes during the Jabba's Palace portion of RotJ. Something I still won't let him live down.

The SE's were great, seeing them in the theater, and the hype surrounding the movies, even if some of the additions were cringe worthy. My local theater did little give aways on the first night of each movies showing.

And it was the Special Editions that made me realize what a chore ANH can be to sit through.

I saw the original trilogy in the theaters, probably once apiece but not sure
I saw the prequel trilogy in the theaters, definitely once apiece (and that was more than enough)
I saw the Force Awakens in the theater (once)

..still haven't seen the Last Jedi. At this point I'll probably catch it on disc or streaming.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the SE releases. I saw Satr Wars SE in the theater... once. With my cousin. After we had smoked a joint.

I haven't seen it yet either, but I did see "The Greatest Showman Ever" It was a fun movie. My daughters been putting the soundtrack on in the car everyday for the last week.

All of 'em.

SW - about a dozen times over the summer of '77 (how I spent my summer vacation between freshman and sophomore year of high school), and once more when the "special edition came out)
ESB - twice, IIRC
ROTJ, TPM, AOTC, ROTS, TFA, R1, and TLJ - once each.

Everything from Phantom Menace to now. I saw Force Awakens and ROTS twice but the rest just once.

The Clone Wars And Return of the Jedi are the only films I have never seen in a theater, being that I missed out on my opportunity to see the latter during its Special Edition release and just wasn't interested in the former.

And, as a general practice, I don't see movies in theaters - even movies I love(d) - more than once, instead saving my repeat viewings for home release.

All of them... More times than I can count.

I was lucky enough to be friends with the grandkids of the owner of the big theater in Lincoln, NE (now some kind of stage/dinner theater) and they got me passes to see Star Wars ANH opening night.. I was able to take my mom and a couple cousins... Pretty big deal for a 7 year old.. We strolled right in while the line stretched down the street and around the block... I was blown away...

Saw ROTJ at a tiny theater in Durango, CO... I can't remember if it was opening night or not, but my folks wanted to go out to a nice dinner and let me go by myself... The crowd was electric and I had a fantastic time... Again.. Not bad for a kid. lol

All of them.

I remember seeing ANH before it had a subtitle (originally, the SW logo continued to recede into the background for the entire prologue crawl), initially at the United Artists (later Edwards, now Regency) South Coast Village, and later, in a 70mm print, at the (now defunct) Plitt City Center (Orange, CA). And I lost count of the number of times I saw it in theatres, ranging from the Edwards Big Newport down to various rinky-dink third-run houses. Likewise, I saw the rest of the "classic trilogy" multiple times in theatres.

I might have seen PM more than once in various theatres, but I don't think I saw RotS or AotC more than once in theatres, and I know I only saw the animated CW once (in the Century Huntington Beach, which I no longer do business with because of Century/Cinemark's far-right politics).

TLJ is the first SW film I've seen more than once in little more than a week in about 35 years (and the first time I've paid 1970s prices for a movie ticket in 40 years). And I wish I'd had time to catch it when it was still at Edwards Big Newport.

Saw the original probably 5-6 times in '77 run, another couple of times each in the '78, pre-ESB and pre-ROTJ re-releases, maybe four or five midnight movie or other screenings in the late '80s or early '90s, so probably 16-18 times. ESB I think maybe 4 times. ROTJ twice, including opening day. 1997 SE once. TPM once. TFA once. That's it.

My parents aren't really moviegoers so even though I'm old enough to have seen at least ESB and ROTJ at the cinema, I've only seen the prequels and TFA, R1 and TLJ there. Once each.

I was old enough to see the original trilogy in the theaters, but did not. I read the books first. Then in college I saw them on VHS (or it could have beet betaMax) when they were showed at the dormitory weekly movie night.

I saw the second trilogy in the theaters, and "the force awakens" also. I was going to see "the last jedi" but i missed it in the theater, but just watched in last night on Amazon. I'm glad I did not see it in the theater now. I liked the movie but didn't feel I would have liked it better on the big screen, which I normally do for this type of movie.

All of them. Saw Star Wars four times on it's original run. First movie I ever saw more than once. Since then I reckon I've seen it projected (over a twenty year span) somewhere between 50-100 times. Every re-release I'd see it as many times as I could. Hell, I even saw the Special Edition a handful of times.

Saw The Phantom Menace four times. Saw Attack of the Clones twice because I had a social obligation to see it a second time. Ergh.

I have only seen Revenge of the Sith once. Ever.

OP:
Which Star Wars movies have you seen in theaters and how many times?

Star Wars (yes, Star Wars, not "A New Hope") - when first released in 1977, and four additional screenings, including one reissue before the release of ESB.

The Empire Strikes Back:- when first released in 1980, and if memory serves, seven times. I could not get enough of that instant masterpiece.

Return of the Jedi - when first released in 1983. Three times, all thanks to the great end of the Luke arc.

The Phantom Menace / Attack of the Clones / Revenge of the Sith - when first released; one time each.

TFA/RO/TLJ - when first released one time each. Once was more than enough.
