    Hi all,
I've had this design knocking around in my head for a while now, and I've finally gotten around to building it.

It's a speculative idea on what Earth's first true interstellar ship might look like. Something that not only could achieve warp, but also has the multi-year endurance to reach Alpha Centauri and then travel back home again.

From cannon sources, it seems like interstellar capable warp ships started cropping up pretty quickly after First Contact with the Vulcans, so I've made Reliant look like parts of it have been cobbled together from older ships - notably the spherical tanks and four chemical sub-light engines are refurbished components from a pre World War 3 Earth-Moon cargo hauler. Likewise, the ship is not matter/antimatter powered, but instead utilises plasma from a fusion tokamak to power the warp nacelles. This limits it to low warp velocities.

Clearly the Daedalus is an inspiration in this design, but I wanted to make it look more primitive, like it was bolted together in sections, whilst still maintaininng the Daedalus design linneage.

I've depicted Reliant here approaching the Alpha Centauri system , working its way past the comets of its Oort cloud.

Ooh, very nice! I'm a sucker for Daedalus-style spherical designs, so this is right up my alley. I love the almost NASA-esque machine section at the back. Plus, that's a very cool atmospheric rendering. Do you have more angles of the design?

Also, welcome to the Trek BBS, @SCE2Aux! :)

Thank you! I'm glad that the NASA/21st century design elements are apparent, since I didn't want the ship to look too advanced.
I'll work up some additional renders showing other angles tonight :)

Thank you for your comments :) Here are a couple of different angles that give a better overview of the design.

Wow, just wow! Again, I love this design. Very nice overall details. And I really like the muted colors on this. This is something I would have loved seeing on Enterprise. Thanks for sharing additional renderings!

That's a really great design, it perfectly merges the star trek aesthetic with a more 21st century look. I love it, good work.

Nacelles and secondary hull are great. The overall design works very well, but the spherical design I'll pass on.

However, not being a fan of the Daedalus class I do like this ship.

I'm happy that you're liking the overall design! It's hard to know if a ship looks right before you show it off.

I'm not quite finished with it though - there are cargo bays and shuttle bays that I've built into the ship, but haven't yet filled them in with detail. I've got to finish the shuttlecraft design as well.

I've also got an idea for a slightly more advanced sub-variant that would be my take on the Valiant from TOS. Finding the time for all this will be interesting!

Omigod, this is awesome. Not to knock the NX-class, this is really what I imagined for a 22nd-Century starship. Great work!

Very nice! Would be a perfect fit for the Pacific 201 version of the Trek universe.

That's a great looking ship. I love it. Though personally, I date the invention of artificial gravity to much later. So I prefer seeing the decks in the other orientation for ships of this era.
