according to the comments, they used a ‘winsor & newton promarker blender’. i’m not familiar with this product but i ordered one on amazon ($5) and i’m gonna do some tests before voyager gets here later this week or next.
been reading some complaints about the concept enterprise-C, apparently there’s a big error on the front of the secondary hull where there’s just no paint at all. i wonder if they’ll correct it later in the run.
I suspect they would have to establish a different license with the FJ estate, who still owns the designs, IIRC. This is not likely to happen any time soon, as I recall hearing FJ's daughter was furious that a variation on his "two-face" UFP design was used without permission in Disovery. I remember noticing that when it popped up and thought it was really cool - one more FJ thing returning to canon, and all that. The estate clearly didn't see it that way, unfortunately. In short, I wouldn't hold my breath.
Buy a plastic toy manta ray or stingray, apply a deflector, some winglets and greebles, and voilà! 
I bought an Oberth on eBay on xmas eve and it finally arrived this morning.
I was a bit miffed to discover when I opened the box that the top half of the starboard nacelle had come off. Fortunately, I've had some accidents with ships before and therefore have some really good model glue. I'll let it sit for a bit and should be good as new. Other than that, I think this one looks really good.

looks like the saucer is a new sculpt to me, but they clearly forgot about the additional phaser arrays. bummer but still looks pretty sweet to me.
it's out in the UK on february 19. so i'm sure here in the US we'll get it march or april.

^ Yeah I'm debating whether to get that. I wasn't really a fan of the 09 & 13 movies or the look the Enterprise in said films, but I did like Beyond and felt those smaller nacelles vastly improved the aesthetics.
But yes people are pointing out the lack of correct details and again we just have Eaglemoss being lazy.

I was gonna get it but seems all the promo codes have expired (even "Eaglemoss10" which has been active for aaages.) There's "NEWS5" for 5% off, but don't suppose anyone knows any others usuable? Not sure why the details can't be correct for any model with CG source material. It's almost like someone would have to go in and intentionally "dumb-down" the model prior to 3D print mastering. Since all Kelvinverse models are required by license to be large-size, I'm not sure I understand why smoothing out the details becomes necessary.
i mean, i'm also noticing that, like on the first kelvin enterprise model, the bridge dome and impulse crystal(?) are unpainted. i'm sure the sensor dome on the underside is similarly unpainted (it wasn't even sculpted on the 2013 version).
this was the first ship i modded myself (mine was badly constructed so i took the whole thing apart and reassembled it, popped the bussards out and darkened them, added the bridge and sensor dome detail, painted the rim and center the deflector dish bronze):
i guess i look forward to modding this one like i did the other one.
eaglemoss really has dropped the ball with arguably one of the most beautiful ships in the franchise. same with the refit constitution class from OG films for that matter.

this is actually untrue.
if you look closely, you can see several raised panels in front of the bridge that are not present on the 2013 star trek/star trek into darkness model, but are present on the enterprise in beyond. also the section behind the bridge above the impulse engine, which is raised on the original, is flush with the primary hull, again, as on the actual production asset. no clue about the secondary hull, but i'm pretty sure that should be unchanged. i can't tell from these photos if they made the appropriate changes to the neck, but that would be a big, big miss.
seems like the phaser placements just got overlooked, which is still not cool, but (for me) forgivable.
so also what is "2016 movie timeline"? lonely eyes looking towards you memory-alpha....

honestly, that enterprise is the only one i’ve had to pull apart and i did it pretty much by hand and with an exacto knife, finding the seams and prying/cutting them open. the saucer wasn’t mounted straight so i had to use a dremmel to sand down the lopsided parts to get them to line up.
because i had pulled them off the pylons by force, the engines kept falling off after i glued everything back together again. so i used a small drill to create a channel in the pylons and ran a piece of wire through them that would plug into the plastic of the nacelles and create a more secure connection. so that might be necessary if you’re doing extensive surgery on your ship.
