Warner bros announce superhero films through 2020

It really is.

I loved The Avengers, but I can't agree with you here. Not even a tiny bit.

I've seen both. One being a fim critic favorite doesn't make it superior. I'm not saying The Godfather isn't good, it is, but its not inherently superior in anyway. Someone can like it better then The Avengers, but that doesn't make it objectively superior.

Okay, this is a little public service announcement: Don't confront @kirk55555 in a discussion.

He has his opinions, to which he is entitled (since the matter of discussion is usually one of taste), and which he held consistently over the past few years, so they do appear to be his honest opinions. And he does care about DC and other genre franchises. For example, he's regularly participated in avatar contests and even won a few.

And as extreme as his opinions are, and as crass as he expresses them, as strongly does he hold them. Your arguments won't change his position on things. I've learned through my own debates with him in the past, they won't lead anywhere. You'll just spend valuable time getting worked up about something that ultimately isn't worth it. If you must, state that you disagree about the matter at hand, and otherwise leave him be, trust readers to be smart enough to draw their own conclusions. He's not an intentional troll, but you shouldn't feed an incidental one, either.

The runny shit my cat took on my basement floor today has more positive qualities than The Avengers.
And now you're just as guilty of the same kind of moronic overstatements that K5x5 regularly makes. Congratulations for sinking to his level! You must be so proud, now people can take your opinions as seriously as they take his. I know I will.

It's pretty common on message boards for mods to be among the worst posters but... This kind of post is clearly over the top, so I think Kirk's shtick is still worse.

So they title of this thread stated that WB had scheduled movies through 2020. Does anyobe have an updated schedule of definitely being made, kinda being made (I.e. Flash), and what is just talk (at this stage)???
I don't think such a thing exists.

Well, definitely coming is Aquaman, which has wrapped shooting months ago, but is still almost a year away. Shazam is pretty advanced in pre-production and set to start shooting in the beginning of February, so it's doubtful they'll pull the plug at this point. Wonder Woman 2 is pretty much a sure thing, seeing how popular the first one is, and Jenkins has already been hired to direct again. Matt Reeves Batman film is looking pretty certain as well.

There are other films in active development, but whether they'll be actually made is a matter of faith at this point. I'm pretty sure a lot of them will be made, but I also doubt all of them will, and it's pretty much up for debate which will make it and which won't. Among these are Green Lantern Corps, Suicide Squad 2, Harley Quinn & Joker, Joker Origin, Flashpoint, Nightwing, Batgirl, Black Adam, Gotham City Sirens, Deathstroke, Deadshot, Harley solo, Lobo, Justice League Dark, Birds of Prey, new Superman solo, and JL2.

I've been trying very very hard the last couple weeks to follow this advice.

I don't think it's possible to put into words just how thoroughly I detest that movie (and then somehow Whedon got even worse with Age of Ultron).

Its was not Whedon--it was the overall approach to the films by the studio and producers. It would have been possible to make coherent spectacle films which respected even a modicum of the best from the source, but it was like all involved were inspired by Marvel comics of the 1990s: everything over the top, extreme for no reason, and seemingly taking cues from episodes of Power Rangers & one Cameron film too many. The end result: The Avengers and Age of Ultron are among the worst of the MCU.

We have upcoming 3 films with confirmed release dates - Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman 2 - and 6 others in "active development" - Flashpoint, Justice League Dark, Suice Squad 2, Batgirl, Green Lantern Corps, and The Batman.

New Line's Walter Hamada is the new head of DC Films

CBR said:
Walter Hamada, who previously oversaw the production of such horror hits as It and The Conjuring for Warner Bros. subsidiary New Line Cinema, has been promoted to president of production for DC films.
...
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hamada, who was already overseeing production of Shazam! for New Line, is expected to work closely with Johns, who remains as DC Entertainment’s president and chief creative officer.

Well, you see, my utter disdain for The Avengers, to the level of making an intentionally hyperbolic overstatement, is based on actual thought, rather than the "RARGH IT ISN'T THE MOVIE I IMAGINED IN MY HEAD THEREFORE IT SUCKS" ranting we've seen in this thread. For example, The Avengers:

- Is unspeakably ugly (I don't often use the "looks like a television show" criticism, but it absolutely applies here; the lighting is uniformly flat and there isn't a single creative composition in the entire movie), and it's hard to blame Seamus McGarvey for that, because he's a ridiculously talented shooter as evidenced by his other work
- Has ridiculously terrible costume design

lolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
- Has its huge mega-battle take place around what seems like a square city block
- Features ridiculously insipid dialogue, with most of the characters shooting off inane quips that could come from anyone

My cat's runny shit, on the other hand ... well, hey, it at least lets me know that she's probably gnawing on plants again, which means I have to rearrange some stuff in my living room and my office. So it was at least informative.

But, hey, I can accept that the Marvel Studios movies, by and large, aren't for me, because I have absolutely zero interest in watching action figures get smashed together or the same three-act beat-for-beat origin story with a find-replace job done on the characters--I'm far more concerned with a story well told, presented in a visually engaging fashion. So whatevs.

Honestly, the lighting in the Avengers is one of my favorite things. It isn't cinematic, artsy, or color filtered. It's just a bunch of dudes in costumes, unashamedly fighting outdoors in day time.

In actual WB / DC news, Walter Hamada is the new chief of DC films; Geoff Johns is now in an "advisory" role.
