I was curious about this too. Apologies, I didn't read all 34 pages of this thread, but I did look at recent posts. I believe the reason the 2018 schedule is sparse is due to the renegotiation of the Star Trek license for S&S. Appears that it should be signed by now as it was apparently close to be finalized last month. In the UK, Pocket released omnibus editions of Foster's 'Star Trek Logs' in 1995 in paperback.

Very few ebooks of the Starfleet Academy titles have been released.

Only one TNG and three DS9 (the 'Day of Honor' DS9 YA is an extra in the 'Day of Honor' omnibus) were ever released in ebook format in English.

As Bones said in Star Trek IV, "the bureaucratic mentality is the only constant in the universe." You have lawyers negotiating with more lawyers, offers and counter-offers, meetings and more meetings, faxes, emails, and phone calls. Eventually something may come of all of it. It takes time.

 

And things usually don't get publicized the moment they happen. What the public hears about is generally several months behind what's going on behind the scenes. So don't expect to be inundated with news anytime soon.

 

Indeed. There might be a note buried in Publisher's Weekly. I tend to think there would be more in the way of news -- okay, a press release -- if someone other than S&S got the contract. (And now that the contract has presumably expired, it could well turn into a free-for-all with other publishers making pitches to CBS.) Otherwise, for most people, the news that S&S has the contract for more Star Trek novels would be when the new books become orderable on Amazon. Heck, most people outside of this forum probably aren't even aware that Pocket's contract has expired.

Saw a Star Trek book group on Facebook who was convinced Titan was the new publisher of Trek books after they saw Prometheus, Book 1.

 

I wouldn't exactly be disappointed if a new publisher got a shot at Trek lit.
